TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - After completing their fourth consecutive undefeated regular season in conference action, Allegheny College clinched the No. 1 seed and home-court advantage throughout the 2026 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Tennis Championship Tournament, which opens with quarterfinal matches on Tuesday, April 21st.
This year's PAC Championship Tournament once again features a six-team championship bracket format.
Allegheny, who has not dropped a PAC match since returning to the league prior to the 2022-23 academic year, clinched the No. 1 seed with a perfect 8-0 record in the PAC and completed the regular season 15-7 overall. As the No. 1 seed, the Gators, as well as second-seeded Grove City College (8-4, 7-1 PAC), secured byes through the quarterfinal round.
The Tournament begins with quarterfinal action on Tuesday. One quarterfinal will include third-seed Franciscan University (7-13, 5-3 PAC) hosting No. 6 Geneva College (5-7, 3-5 PAC) Tuesday at 4:30 pm in Steubenville, Ohio. The teams just played on April 17th with the Barons taking a 5-2 decision win over the Golden Tornadoes. After winning the doubles point, Franciscan added victories at first, second, third and fifth singles.
Tuesday's other quarterfinal has No. 5 Washington & Jefferson College (5-11, 4-4 PAC) traveling to No. 4 Saint Vincent College (14-5, 5-3 PAC) in a rematch of last year's opening round of the tournament, with first serve at 4 pm. Saint Vincent advanced in last year's PAC playoffs with a 4-1 win and SVC also claimed this year's regular season meeting by a 4-3 score on April 13th in Latrobe.
Tuesday's winners will move on to Thursday's semifinals. Top-seeded Allegheny will welcome the winner from the Saint Vincent/W&J match to Meadville, while the Franciscan/Geneva quarterfinal winner will journey to Grove City for a semifinal Thursday.
The semifinal winners will face off in the PAC Tournament Championship match on Saturday, April 25, hosted by the highest remaining seed. First serve will be at 1 p.m. for the title match. All Tournament matches will use the seven-point team format with the first team to four (4) individual match wins advancing.
The winner of the PAC Championship Tournament earns the conference's automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. Team selections for the Division III Championships will be released Monday, May 4th with first-, second- and third-round matches slated for Friday-Sunday, May 8-10.
