W&J Earns No. 1 Seed for PAC Baseball Tournament 5/6/2025 9:00:00 AM TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - After completing the regular season with a 16-4 record in conference play, Washington & Jefferson College has earned the No. 1 seed for this week's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Baseball Tournament. The conference tournament will be a six-team, double-elimination championship for the second consecutive year. It will be held Wednesday-Saturday, May 7-10 at Ross Memorial Park in Washington, Pa. The first pitch of the Tournament will be thrown at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, with top-seed W&J (26-13, 16-4 PAC) facing No. 6 Thiel College (14-24, 10-9 PAC) in Game A. In Game B at 2:30 pm, second-seeded Grove City College (27-10, 16-4 PAC) will take the field against the fifth seed Saint Vincent College (18-20, 11-9 PAC). The opening day of the Tournament will conclude with a match-up between the No. 3 seed Allegheny College (21-16, 13-7 PAC) and the fourth-seed Westminster College (16-20, 11-9 PAC) in Game C at 6 pm. The tournament will continue through Saturday's championship game(s), with the full schedule posted below. This will be the eighth year in a row W&J has been the No. 1 seed in the conference playoffs. The Presidents, guided by 23rd-year head coach Jeff Mountain, are appearing in their 16th consecutive tournament. W&J secured its 16th PAC title in 2024 and fifth straight with a 4-2 in the championship game over Grove City College. Tenth-year head coach Matt Royer is at the helm of the Grove City program, who is making their sixth consecutive appearance in the PAC Tournament. The Wolverines are trying to win their fourth conference title overall and first since 2008. Returning to the PAC Tournament for the second season in a row is Allegheny, led by eighth-year head coach Brandon Crum. The Gators, in their third season back in the conference since returning in 2022-23, won 14 PAC Championships during their previous time in the league, with the last coming in 1977. Westminster and sixth-year head coach Patrick Riley, who finished third in the PAC Tournament a season ago, are back in the conference playoffs for the fourth year in a row. The Titans last won the league title in 2012. In his 25th year leading the program, Thiel head coach Joe Schaly guides the Tomcats into the league playoffs for the second year in a row. Thiel's last PAC championship came in 2003. The PAC Championship Tournament winner will also claim the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. Selections for the Division III Championship are scheduled to be announced Monday, May 12 with regional preliminary round play slated for Friday-Sunday, May 16-18. Regional champions will compete in the Super Regionals, a best-of-three series, to determine the eight participants in this year's Division III College World Series, scheduled for Friday-Thursday, May 30-June 5.
