INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (pacathletics.org) - The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) will have five runners, including four women and one male, competing at the 2025 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships after they qualified at this past weekend's Regional.
The four female qualifiers have all competed at the national meet previously. The veteran group is led by Washington & Jefferson College senior Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) and Geneva College senior Carmen Medvit (New Castle, Pa./Shenango), who will be running in their third Championship. Also qualifying for the second national championship in their careers is Saint Vincent College sophomore Grace Neubert (Saint Marys, Pa./Elk County Catholic) and Geneva senior Hailey Carroll (Bremerton, Wash./Central Kitsap).
The lone men's qualifier is also making his second straight appearance at NCAAs in W&J junior Dominic Flitcraft (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell).
Converse University and OneSpartanburg, Inc. are hosting the championships Nov. 22 at Roger Milliken Cross Country course at the Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The men’s race will begin at 10 a.m. Eastern, followed by the women’s race at 11 a.m. Eastern. A live web stream of the championships will occur on NCAA.com beginning at 11 a.m. Eastern time until the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals had to qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions. All five from the PAC ran at the Mid-Atlantic Regional in Newville, Pa.
Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top seven-person team automatically qualified from each of the 10 regions. Twenty-two additional teams were selected at-large. Seventy individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship.
Anderson helped the W&J women's cross country team to its highest team finish in cross country program history at an NCAA Regional race, as the Presidents placed sixth out of 28 teams. Anderson led the way with a third-place finish in a time of 21:33.62 and was the top PAC runner at the regional race, only being bested by runners from Carnegie Mellon and Johns Hopkins. It was the third All-Region performance in her career, as she placed 10th as a sophomore in 2023 and was the Mid-Atlantic Regional champion, the first-ever by a W&J women's runner, last fall.
After she won the Regional, Anderson collected the institution's first women's cross country All-America honor since 2012 at the 2024 NCAA National Meet. She placed 23rd with a time of 21:33.4, becoming the only other women's cross country runner from W&J to achieve All-American status since Kristen Galligan in the 2012 season.
Neubert will be making her second trip to NCAA Championships in as many years in her career at Saint Vincent. For the second year in a row, she placed seventh overall at the Mid-Atlantic Regional, this year with a time of 21:59.25. The third runner in Bearcat history to qualify for nationals, Neubert raced to a 74th place finish in the 290-runner NCAA Championship field a season ago, running a time of 22:10.5. She was the sixth freshman runner to finish in the impressive field.
Medvit, who won the PAC Championship on Nov. 1st, secured her spot at the NCAA meet when she finished the Regional race in eighth place overall, out of 205 runners, with a time of 22:00.72. It was the third All-Region laurel in her career, adding to her ninth-place finish in 2022 and third place in 2023 before she missed last year due to injury. Already the first Geneva women's cross country runner to qualify for NCAAs, she adds to that as the first to now qualify three times.
Carroll joins Medvit as a multi-time qualifier after she finished 11th Saturday at the Mid-Atlantic race with a final time of 22:07.50. It was Carroll's second All-Region performance after she was the runner-up at the 2023 Regional, which clinched her a spot at the NCAA Championship a week later.
On the men's side, Flitcraft finished 10th with a time of 25:32.05, which helped W&J place 17th as a team. The junior was the top PAC runner at the regional race, finishing behind only runners from Carnegie Mellon and Johns Hopkins. After becoming the 2025 conference champion two weeks ago, Flitcraft added on to his accolades this season with his second consecutive Mid-Atlantic All-Region honor and trip to the NCAA National Championships. He was also 10th at the Regional in 2024 and would go on to place 131st overall at the national championships.
Three other runners from the PAC picked up All-Region accolades with their performances Saturday. The top showing from the W&J women's program was aided by two other Presidents joining Anderson with All-Region distinction. The senior tandem of Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) and Chloe LoCastro (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) each finished in the top 25. Gilles finished as the Presidents' second-best runner in 20th place with a personal-best mark of 22:27.26, while LoCastro finished just behind in 22nd place with a PR finish of 22:33.67. It was the first All-Region award for both.
One other men's runner gathered All-Region recognition in Geneva sophomore Ethan Haring (Wexford, Pa./Eden Christian Academy), as he placed 29th overall with a time of 26:09.
