TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - The Case Western Reserve University offensive line earned recognition from D3fooball.com as a part of the Team of the Week for their performance this past Saturday.
The starting unit, composed of graduate student Gus Salopek (Richmond Height, Ohio/St. Ignatius), senior David Freedman (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville), sophomore Sean DiDona (Willoughby Hills, Ohio/Villa Angela Saint Joseph), senior Zach Miller (Hershey, Pa./Hershey), and senior Owen Myer (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) earned this honor for only the second time in program history, with the first recognition occurring in Week 11 of the 2010 season.
The Spartans' offensive line led the charge, as the team racked up an impressive 62 points in a Week 6 victory over the Allegheny College Gators at DiSanto Field in Cleveland, Ohio. A total of 13 different ball carriers contributed to Case Western Reserve'’s fierce rushing attack, where they amassed 302 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.
The unit also excelled in pass protection, not surrendering a single sack in 25 attempts and allowing the Spartan quarterbacks to throw for 137 yards.
Saturday marked the first time since 2016 — a season in which they accomplished the feat three times — that CWRU rushed for over 300 yards in a single game. The 62–21 victory was the first time in the 2025 campaign that the Spartans have eclipsed the 60-point total.
Case Western Reserve improves to 3-2-1 overall and 3-1 in the PAC, where they are now tied for second place in the standings. The Spartans travel to Greenville, Pa., this coming Saturday to take on the Thiel Tomcats in another league contest. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 P.M.
