PAC Football Media Day Set for August 2nd 7/20/2023 9:45:00 AM TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathletics.org) -- This year’s Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Football Media Day will be held Wednesday, August 2 in Latrobe, Pa. For a 16th consecutive year, Saint Vincent College will host the league’s media day. The event serves as the PAC's kickoff to the upcoming football season, with the head coaches and player representatives from each of the conference's 11 programs addressing the media and previewing the upcoming season. The day will kick off just before 10 am with a brief welcome by PAC Commissioner Joe Onderko. That will be followed by Bob Gregg and Mark Uriah being honored as the 2023 recipients of the Dow Carnahan Media Award. Carnahan, a longtime supporter and friend of the PAC, passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2016. The award is presented annually to a distinguished member or members of the media or on-campus representative(s) for their commendable service while covering and promoting the conference’s student-athletes, coaches, and programs. The 2023 season will mark the 40th season that Gregg and Uriah will team up to call Washington & Jefferson College football games on WJPA radio. From the start of the 1984 season, the duo has called the action to local listeners in Washington. During this time, W&J has racked up more than 300 wins, 25 PAC titles and made 2 Stagg Bowl appearances. The 1984 season also started W&J’s string of 39 consecutive winning seasons. Both are Western Pennsylvania natives, as Gregg is a graduate of Washington High School and attended the University of Miami (Fla.) and Geneva College, while Uriah graduated from Chartiers Valley High School and Ohio State University. In addition to their work covering W&J, both gentlemen have been fixtures on the local sports scene. The duo has covered WPIAL and PIAA athletics over the last four decades, including football, basketball, wrestling, baseball and softball, as well as California (Pa.) University playoff games, the Pony League World Series in Washington, Washington Wild Things baseball and the Frontier League playoffs. Due to their efforts, WJPA Sports is a four-time winner of the Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcasters Association Award for Best Sports Play-by-Play. They were both inducted into the Washington-Greene Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. Media members in attendance, along with each institution's head coach and sports information director (SID), will participate in a preseason poll to determine the projected conference finish for the 2023 season. Members of the media interested in attending PAC Football Media Day, an invitation-only event, should contact PAC Associate Commissioner Brian Rose at 724-579-8972 or by email at rose@pacathletics.org.
