The weekly award winners have been recognized for their performances during Week 1 of the 2023 season.
 

PAC Hitter of the Week

CJ Saylor • Grove City • Senior catcher • Lancaster, Pa. | Hempfield Saylor is hitting .476 (10-for-21) with seven runs scored and five runs batted in through five games for Grove City … Included in his 10 hits are two doubles and a triple, giving him a .667 slugging percentage … He has four games with multiple hits so far this season, including two hits in the opener against PSU-Greater Allegheny and both ends of the Asbury doubleheader … In game one against #22 Wooster Saturday, Saylor walked and scored a run in the 5-1 win … He went 4-for-4 in game two with a two-run triple and scored a pair of runs.

Allegheny sophomore Tyson Bryant-Dawson (Oakland, Calif. | Marvel-Texas) hit .462 in the weekend series with John Carroll, including a 4-for-4 game with a double and one RBI in an 8-5 game-one win Sunday … Bethany senior Luke Beatty (Follansbee, W.Va. | Weirton Madonna) went 3-for-5 and drove in three in the season-opening win over La Roche and he is hitting .294 with eight RBIs through the first five games … Chatham sophomore Tyler Cote (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Penn Hills) had two doubles, a triple and four RBIs in a game-two win over Hilbert … W&J sophomore Jacob LaDuca (Clarence, N.Y. | Canisius) hit .333 in the first three games, which included a four-RBI effort in the Muskingum win and three runs scored in a victory over 10th-ranked Baldwin-Wallace … Waynesburg sophomore Alec Engelmore (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Shaler) went 2-for-4, knocked in one and scored twice in game two of Thursday’s twinbill with La Roche.

   

PAC Pitcher of the Week

Jacob Watson • Franciscan • Senior • Arlington, Texas | Nolan Catholic     Watson was nearly perfect in a seven-inning shutout on Sunday, as the Barons blanked Hood College 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader … He didn’t allow a hit until the fourth inning and then retired nine straight batters … Watson faced just two batters over the minimum in allowing two hits and walking only one while striking out two … He needed just 89 pitches to finish the seven-inning complete game.

Allegheny sophomore Joseph Raleigh (Clermont, Fla. | East Ridge) earned the win after throwing two scoreless innings without allowing a hit in an 8-5 victory over John Carroll Sunday … Chatham sophomore Dawson Morrow (Harmony, Pa. | Seneca Valley) threw five scoreless innings of relief and struck out five while allowing just four hits in the Cougars’ game-one, extra-inning win over Hilbert … W&J sophomore Dante DiMatteo (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Fox Chapel) worked the final two innings and registered a pair of Ks to record the save in the 10-9 win over #10 Baldwin Wallace Sunday … Waynesburg freshman Ethan Erhard (Greensburg, Pa. | Hempfield) tallied four strikeouts and allowed three runs (one earned) in four solid innings of relief against La Roche Thursday.

 

PAC Rookie of the Week

CJ Owens • Bethany • Freshman catcher • Austin, Texas | Elgin     Owens has posted a .357 batting average and .500 on-base percentage with six runs scored through the first five games for the Bison … He singled and scored two runs in the season-opening win over La Roche … In Saturday’s opening game against Pitt-Bradford, Owens had a double, triple, drove in one and scored twice … He came back Sunday to reach base twice with a single and walk, stole a base and scored twice in a 6-5 game-one victory.

Allegheny freshman Tai Hopkins (Meadville, Pa. | Cathedral Prep) made his collegiate debut with a 1-2-3 scoreless inning and struck out one in the series finale against John Carroll … Chatham freshman Dimitri Boumis (Canal Winchester, Ohio | Bishop Hartley) earned the win after throwing 1 ? innings of relief in game two against Hilbert and then K’d two in a scoreless inning against Bates Sunday … Grove City freshman Andrew Seest (Fort Collins, Colo. | Fort Collins) had a hit in both ends of Saturday’s doubleheader split with #22 Wooster, including a double and a run scored in the nightcap … Waynesburg freshman Gavin Pratt (Carmichaels, Pa. | Carmichaels) was 4-for-8 in Thursday’s twinbill with La Roche and hit two doubles, drove in two and scored a pair of runs.
