PAC Player of the Week

Kyran Mitchell • Washington & Jefferson • Senior guard • Reading, Pa. | Berks Catholic Mitchell earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the Albright Doubletree Holiday Tournament … He averaged 14.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals as W&J reached the championship game … After amassing 10 points, seven boards, five assists in a two-point win over Albright in the first round, Mitchell recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds in loss to Salisbury in title game.

Other notable performers

Allegheny junior Andre Wilder (Beaver Falls, Pa. | Lincoln Park) logged a double-double with 21 points and team-best 11 rebounds in 107-79 win over Penn State-Shenango, the Gators’ highest-scoring game since 2004-05 … Bethany sophomore Chance Wells (Wooster, Ohio | Triway) had team-high 21 points against Asbury and averaged 16 points, 6.0 boards, 5.5 assists in two games at the Bluffton Tournament … Chatham senior Marcos Cintron (Grove City, Pa. | Grove City), who scored 24 at Carnegie Mellon, averaged 22.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in a pair of games over break … Franciscan junior Josh Zimmerman (Steubenville, Ohio | Steubenville) had 10 points, eight rebounds and five steals in Penn State New Kensington win and averaged 11 points, seven boards and four steals in two games over break … Senior Lyle Tipton (Glenside, Pa. | Phil-Mont Christian Academy) averaged 19 points and 7.5 rebounds in Geneva’s two-game Texas road trip … Grove City sophomore Jonah Bock (Erie, Pa. | McDowell) had a career-high 27 points and seven three-pointers against Pitt-Bradford before dropping in 12 points in PAC win over Chatham … Saint Vincent freshman Jaden Gales (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Bishop Canevin) recorded a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double in two-point OT loss to McDaniel … Waynesburg graduate student Matt Popeck (Washington, Pa. | Washington) scored a team-high nine points at Hood … Westminster senior Austin O’Hara (Girard, Ohio | Girard) averaged 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists at the Kent State Tuscarawas Christmas Classic

 

PAC Rookie of the Week

Isaiah Portis • Allegheny • Freshman guard • Medina, Ohio | Norwayne Portis scored a career-high 21 points in Allegheny’s 107-79 win over Penn State Shenango on Dec. 21 … In helping the Gators score their most points in a game since the 2004-05 season, Portis was 7-of-11 from the floor, including 4-of-8 from the three-point line … He also added a career-high nine rebounds and two assists.

Bethany freshman Troy Hixson (Grove City, Ohio | Bishop Ready) averaged 16.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in two games at the Bluffton Tournament … Grove City freshman Christian Suceveanu (Pacific Palisades, Calif. | Loyola) had six points and seven rebounds in PAC win over Chatham … W&J freshman Brandon Jakiela (McDonald, Pa. | South Fayette) earned All-Tournament Team at Albright after he went for 23 points and eight rebounds in a first round win over the host school … Waynesburg freshman Scott Bilovus (Imperial, Pa. | West Allegheny) tallied six points, one assist and one rebound at Hood on Dec. 30 … Westminster freshman Bobby Ray (Jefferson, Ohio | Jefferson) posted collegiate highs with 22 points and seven rebounds against Kent State Tuscarawas.
