The weekly award winners have been recognized for their performances during Week 8 of the 2022 season.
 

PAC Hitter of the Week

Roman Samson • Washington & Jefferson • Sophomore outfielder • Tampa, Fla. | Berkeley Prep.  Samson recorded five hits in seven at-bats as W&J rolled to a PAC doubleheader sweep Sunday against Waynesburg… Samson went 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run and four RBIs in an 11-1 game two win… He added a two-run double in a 15-1 game one win… Samson finished a double shy of hitting for the cycle in the nightcap… He is hitting .313 this spring with five doubles, three triples, three home runs, 17 RBIs and 13 runs scored.

Other notable performers from last week

Bethany senior Stefan Blackstone (Coraopolis, Pa. | Cornell) hit .571 last week with two doubles, a triple, three RBIs and six runs scored… He scored three times in Tuesday’s win at Thiel… Grove City senior Bubba Hamilton (Garner, N.C. | Waynesboro, Pa.) hit .400 with two RBIs and a run scored last week… Thiel senior Seth Johnson (Magnolia, Ohio | Tuscarawas Valley) hit .500 last week with a double, a home run, one RBI and two runs scored… Waynesburg sophomore Mike Bell (Herminie, Pa. | Yough) hit .400 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and a run scored last week… Westminster sophomore Logan Murgenovich (Aliquippa, Pa. | Central Valley) hit .471 with four doubles, two RBIs and six runs scored last week.

   

PAC Pitcher of the Week

Jeremy Kruezweiser • Saint Vincent • Sophomore • Canfield, Ohio | Ursuline     Kruezweiser went 2-0 (2 starts) with a 0.57 earned-run average last week… He totaled 16 strikeouts in a combined 15.2 innings and limited opposing hitters to a .148 average… In Wednesday’s 6-1 game two win against Geneva, Kruezweiser allowed one run (1 earned) on four hits with 10 strikeouts in a complete-game effort… In Saturday’s 8-2 victory at Thiel, he worked 6.2 innings and allowed one run (0 earned) on four hits with six strikeouts… He has won three-straight games.

Bethany junior Zach Nolf (Hubbard, Ohio | McDonald) earned his fourth save of the season in Tuesday’s game one win at Westminster… Geneva junior Jarrett Orbin (New Springfield, Ohio | New Springfield) earned the win Friday at Chatham after tossing 4.0 scoreless relief innings… Thiel junior Travis Harvey (Boardman, Ohio | Boardman) posted a 1.29 ERA and a combined eight strikeouts in a pair of starts last week… W&J senior Jameson Campbell (Painesville, Ohio | Riverside) threw 6.0 scoreless innings in Sunday’s game two win over Waynesburg… He allowed one hit, a fifth inning single, as he won his fifth-straight decision… Campbell struck out five in the win… Westminster senior Logan Minch (Grove City, Pa. | Grove City) claimed his third victory of the season Sunday against Bethany, allowing one run (1 earned) on four hits with three strikeouts in 4.0 relief innings.

 

PAC Rookie of the Week

Evan Umland • Grove City • Freshman pitcher • Pasadena, Calif. | La Canada      Umland went 1-0 with a save and a 0.00 earned-run average last week… He struck out 10, walked none and allowed four singles over 9.1 innings… Umland threw 1.1 innings to earn the save in a 5-4 win over Westminster Tuesday… Friday, he threw 8.0 shutout innings in a 5-1 win at Franciscan… Umland is 5-1 with five saves and a 2.33 ERA this year.

Geneva freshman Cael Brandt (Elizabethtown, Pa. | Elizabethtown) went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored Friday at Chatham… Thiel freshman Ethan Bintrim (New Castle, Pa. | Shenango) had a two-run double Wednesday at Waynesburg… W&J freshman Jacob LaDuca (Clarence, N.Y. | Canisius) went 4-for-7 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored in Sunday’s doubleheader with Waynesburg… Waynesburg freshman Alec Engelmore (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Shaler) went 1-0 with a save and a 0.00 ERA in three relief appearances last week… He also hit .250 with an RBI and a run scored… Westminster first-year Ryan Gibbons (Ellwood City, Pa. | Lincoln) totaled seven strikeouts in 5.0 relief innings last week… He finished with six strikeouts in 3.0 innings in game one with Bethany Saturday.
