Sansom earns promotion within Bethany athletics

Bethany, W.Va. (pacathletics.org)--Bethany College Director of Athletics Jill Willson has announced the appointment of Brian Sansom as the Assistant Athletic Director of Athletics Recruiting and Retention.

"We have an amazing opportunity to make a difference in the athletic department with the addition of Brian Sansom to our Senior Staff," said Willson. "Brian will help all of our coaches become even more focused on bringing great student-athletes to Bethany. His proven success in the women's basketball program and as a recruiter is something we want to help replicate in every program."

Currently the head women's basketball coach, Sansom is in his sixth season with the Bison. Sansom has led the Bison to six-straight Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament appearances, including reaching the semifinals for the first time since 2011-12 season this season. He has chaired and been a key member of multiple head coaching and staff searches throughout the department. He previously served as the Travel Coordinator for Athletics and the Chair of the Staff Council.

"I would like to thank President Jamie Caridi and Athletic Director Jill Willson for this opportunity to work more closely with our coaches, enrollment office and prospective student-athletes," said Sansom.

In his new role, Sansom will work closely with Bethany's enrollment office, coaches and student-athletes to enhance the overall experience from recruitment to graduation.

"My goal is to help lead, collaborate, support, and mentor our coaches in any way possible to ensure success in areas of recruiting and retention of prospective and current student-athletes here at Bethany College! My wife, Erikka, son, Lucan and I have made Bethany our home and this place is special to us," added Sansom.

Sansom joined Bethany in 2016 and earned his undergraduate degree in Sport Management Studies at University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in 2008 and his master's in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration at California University of Pennsylvania in 2011. He resides in Bethany, West Virginia with his wife Erikka and their son Lucan
