Thiel's Tejumola, Westminster's Parker named PAC SAAC Scholar-Athletes for January 2/19/2022 12:30:00 PM GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org)--Thiel College senior Ahmad Tejumola (Waldorf, Md. | Saint Charles) and Westminster College graduate student Megan Parker (Mercer, Pa. | Mercer) were named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Scholar-Athletes of the Month for January. Each month, the SAAC’s at PAC member institutions are asked to nominate one male and one female student-athlete for PAC SAAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month consideration based on academic and athletic accomplishments. Nominees must be varsity team members in their respective sport and in their junior or senior year. Scholar-Athlete of the Month nominees must also have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher and be actively involved within their campus communities. Tejumola averaged 15.7 points, 9.9 rebounds and 32.3 minutes per game in seven January games for Thiel. He shot 50.0 percent (42-84) from the floor and had three double-doubles, including a season-high 27-point, 10-rebound effort in an 88-77 win at Franciscan on January 24. Tejumola has recorded a PAC-best 12 double-doubles this season, which also rank 27th in NCAA Division III. His 11.6 rebounds per game average leads the league while his 13.5 points per game average ranks 12th. His career-high 22 rebounds against Penn State Shenango on November 12, 2021 were the fourth-most in a single game in program history. Tejumola was named to the All-PAC Second Team following the 2020-21 season. Named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 4 First Team in 2021 and 2022, Tejumola has qualified for the College's Dean’s List six times and is a three-time member of the PAC Academic Honor Roll. Tejumola carries a 3.82 cumulative GPA while majoring in psychology (counseling and social tracks). January honorable mention nominees: Bethany junior Tyric Drane (indoor track and field), Chatham senior Brett Seich (indoor track and field), W&J senior Alex Donahue (wrestling) Waynesburg graduate student Nijon Kirkman (basketball). Parker excelled at a pair of January events hosted by Youngstown State University. At the YSU Collegiate Invitational on January 21, she finished 10th in the shot put (12.40m, 40-08.25) and 11th in the weight throw (14.81m, 48-07.25). At the YSU Mid-Major Invitational January 28-29, Parker posted a third-place finish in the shot put (13.35m, 43-09.75) and a sixth-place finish in the weight throw (14.90m, 48-10.75). Parker currently owns the league's top throws in both the shot put (13.50m, 44-03.50) and the weight throw (15.12m, 49-07.25). Her effort in the shot put currently ranks 11th in Division III. Last spring Parker helped lead Westminster to the PAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships team title, the program's first since 2012. She was named the Most Outstanding Performer in the Field after winning both the discus and the shot put. Her throw in the shot (13.45m, 44-01.50) established a new PAC Championships and school record. Parker qualified in the shot put for last spring's Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, becoming the school's first national qualifier in the event. She finished in 14th place, registering a mark of 13.19 meters (43-02.50). Parker also helped lead Westminster to PAC Indoor Track and Field Championships titles in 2018-19 and 2019-20. At the 2019-20 indoor championships, she won the shot put and weight throw, the school's first-ever champion in either event. Parker and Grove City's Katlyn Adams were honored as Co-PAC Most Outstanding Field Performers following the 2019-20 indoor championships. Parker won the shot put and the weight throw. During her successful senior season, Parker worked full-time as a registered nurse while continuing as a full-time student. Parker maintains a 4.00 cumulative GPA while pursuing a master's degree in nursing. She was selected by the PAC last fall as its NCAA Woman of the Year nominee for her outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments. Parker, who graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in nursing last spring earned Dean's List honors four times, received several academic scholarships and held leadership positions, including the president of the Student Government Association (SGA) and First-Year Orientation leader. She was the student representative on the Westminster Board of Trustees and vice president of philanthropic service. She was also a member of the Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society, Lambda Sigma Honor Society, UPMC Jameson Student Council, National Social Sorority and Black Student Union. Additionally, Parker was an American Red Cross volunteer and earned the Rising Titan Award.
