WAYNESBURG, Pa. (pacathletics.org)--The Waynesburg University Department of Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of George DeAugustino as its new head women's soccer coach.

DeAugustino comes to the Yellow Jackets after serving as the associate head coach of the women's team at NCAA Division III member Marian in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.

"I believe that my work ethic and drive to help the women's soccer team grow and get better every day in all aspects of life is one of my biggest strengths," DeAugustino said of his hiring. "Focusing on growth is something that goes hand in hand with Waynesburg's vision. I am excited to challenge our team to seek excellence every day."

DeAugustino was named associate head coach of the Sabres in 2020. This past season, his only in the position, Marian went 4-6 overall and 4-4 in Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) play. After the end of this past spring, five of DeAugustino's players were named to the All-NAAC North Team.

DeAugustino initially joined Marian as an assistant coach in July, 2017, before becoming associate head coach. He arrived at Marian after serving as a graduate assistant for Anderson University where he earned his Masters of Business Administration. In his two seasons with Anderson, the Ravens went a combined 15-14-3 with an 8-5-2 record on the road. The Ravens also had nine student-athletes earn All-HCAC recognition. In the classroom, Anderson was lauded as an NSCAA All-Academic team both seasons for maintaining a team grade point average above 3.0.

"We are very excited to add George DeAugustino to the Waynesburg University Athletic Department, as well as the Waynesburg community," said Waynesburg University Director of Athletics, Adam Jack. "Coach DeAugustino's passion for coaching and experience as a Division III student-athlete make him a great fit for our women's soccer program."

No stranger to Western Pennsylvania and the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), DeAugustino spent his collegiate playing days at Grove City, where he was a four-year starter on defense and a team captain as a senior. That same season, he was named a first team All-PAC pick and helped lead Grove City to the conference championship game. He was also named a second team All-PAC defender during his junior year.

"I am really excited to return to the Presidents' Athletic Conference," DeAugustino said. "The PAC is an extremely competitive soccer conference that I have a passion for. I think my background in the conference will help me as a coach because I will be able to use some of my own personal experiences as a former player in the conference to help guide the team through a tough league schedule."

DeAugustino has earned his United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 1 Diploma and National Diploma.
