GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org)--The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released its 2021 All-PAC men's soccer teams and yearly award winners Friday afternoon. The league's 10 head coaches determined, by vote, this year's All-PAC teams and annual award winners.

Grove City College junior forward Sam Belitz (Independence, Ohio | Independence) was named the PAC Player of the Year, while Franciscan University freshman forward Jonathan Schriner (Bluffton, Ohio | Bluffton) claimed the PAC Newcomer of the Year award. Bethany College third-year head coach Frankie Taal was voted the PAC Coach of the Year.

Belitz is Grove City's seventh PAC Player of the Year honoree since 1996 and first since Dale Reese in 2016.

A three-time All-PAC selection (2nd in 2019, 1st in 2020-21, 2021), Belitz has made starts in 17 of Grove City's 18 matches this season. He leads the PAC in goals scored this fall with 15, ranks second in points (36) and is tied for third in assists (6). Five of Belitz's goals this fall have been match-winning scores. His 11 goals scored, six assists and 28 points logged during the PAC's regular season are all league highs.

In 43 career appearances (36 starts), Belitz has totaled 63 points on 27 goals and nine assists.

Schriner had a terrific first season for the Barons, earning starts in 14 of Franciscan's 17 matches this fall. His eight goals scored were tied for the fifth most in the PAC, while his 18 points rank sixth. Schriner posted 12 points on five goals and a pair of assists during Franciscan's 7-2 finish during the league's regular season, helping lead the Barons to the No. 2 seed in this year's championship tournament and a spot in last week's title match.

Taal led Bethany to the No. 5 seed in the league's championship tournament. Appearing in the PAC Championship Tournament title match for the first time since 2010, Bethany earned its conference-best 31st title last week with a 3-1 victory over No. 2 Franciscan University. It was Bethany's first league championship since 2001. After getting off to a 2-6-1 start through their first nine matches, the Bison went  8-1 over their next nine, including its current five-match win streak. Bethany is 10-7-1 and finished with a 5-4 PAC record.

This is Taal's first PAC Coach of the year honor.

As this year's PAC Championship Tournament winner, Bethany received the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The PAC is one of 43 conferences granted automatic qualification (Pool A) to the Division III Championship. Making its 20th all-time appearance in the Division III Championship, Bethany last qualified for the national tournament in 2006. The Bison won the 1994 Division III Championship in Ewing Township, N.J. Bethany will travel to University Heights, Ohio Saturday to take on John Carroll University (12-3-4), an automatic qualifier from the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). It is the Blue Streaks' fourth-straight OAC Championship. Saturday's first round match will get underway at 11 a.m.
