(pacathletics.org)--The Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) announced the field for next week’s PAC Women’s Volleyball Championship Tournament following the completion of regular season play on Saturday evening. The six-team championship tournament, which gets underway with a pair of first round matches Tuesday, will determine this year's PAC champion. The winner of this year’s championship tournament will also receive the league's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The PAC is one of 44 conferences granted automatic qualification (Pool A) to the Division III Championship. Admission to all PAC Championship Tournament matches is $5 for adults and $2 for students, with students at PAC host institutions admitted for free with valid identification. Westminster College (26-4) secured the No. 1 seed in the championship tournament after going 18-0 in league play this fall. Bethany College (16-10, 13-5 PAC) will enter the championship tournament as the No. 2 seed. Westminster and Bethany will receive first round byes. Westminster earned the top seed in the championship tournament for the fourth-straight season. The Titans have won five PAC titles since becoming eligible for the conference championship in 2002. Westminster won back-to-back PAC titles in 2019 and 2020-21. Bethany owns a pair of PAC championships, winning in 2016 and 2018. The No. 2 seed is Bethany's highest since claiming the 2016 title as the No. 1 seed. In Tuesday's first round, No. 3 Chatham University (18-7, 13-5 PAC) will host No. 6 Geneva College (13-16, 10-8 PAC) at 7 p.m. at the Athletics and Fitness Center (AFC) in Pittsburgh. Thiel College (11-18, 11-7 PAC) the No. 4 seed, will host No. 5 Grove City College (18-11, 11-7 PAC) at Rissell-Beeghly Gymnasia in Greenville at 7 p.m. Chatham is making its second all-time appearance in the championship tournament. The Cougars were the No. 6 seed in the 2017 tournament. Thiel is appearing in the championship tournament for the third time in the last four years. The Tomcats have played in the title match three times (2009-10, 2012). Grove City earned a spot in the championship tournament for the eighth time in the last 10 years. The Wolverines own a league-best nine PAC championships, last winning the title in 2001. Grove City played in last spring's title match. Geneva is making its 11th-straight appearance in the tournament since securing full Division III membership in 2011. The Golden Tornadoes have advanced to the semifinal round in each of the last eight seasons. Geneva claimed the PAC title in 2011. Westminster and Bethany will host semifinal matches on Thursday, Nov. 4. Westminster will host the No. 4 Thiel/No. 5 Grove City winner at 7 p.m. at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium in New Wilmington, while Bethany will host the No. 3 Chatham/No. 6 Geneva winner at Nutting Gymnasium inside Hummel Field House at 7 p.m. in Bethany. The title match, slated for Saturday, Nov. 6, will be hosted by the highest-remaining seed following Thursday's semifinal round. Information on the title match will be announced after the completion of the semifinals. Selections for the 64-team Division III Championship will be announced Monday, Nov. 8 at 12:30 p.m. Regional competition is scheduled for Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 11-14.
