Week 9 PAC Honors (for matches played April 15-21)
The weekly award winners have been recognized for their performances during Week 9 of the 2019 season.
Player
Nate Wang • W&J • Sophomore • Venetia, Pa. | Peters Township
Wang tallied a pair of wins in last Tuesday’s 5-4 victory over Grove City ... The sophomore teamed with Sam Bellini to win 8-6 at first doubles over Karsten Lagerquist and Paul Hodge before rallying to pick up a victory over Lagerquist at first singles in a third set tiebreaker ... His singles win helped the Presidents secure the match and finish the regular season 7-0 in the PAC.
Rookie
Josh Boland • Saint Vincent • Freshman • Pittsburgh, Pa. | Plum
Boland went a combined 4-0 for Saint Vincent in a pair of pivotal league victories last week ... Playing from the No. 6 singles position, he rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Bethany’s Adam Franco before claiming a 6-1, 6-0 win over Waynesburg’s Brett Thum ... Boland and No. 3 doubles partner Alex DeLuca earned an 8-3 win over Bethany’s Geoffrey Foster and Franco and an 8-1 win over Waynesburg’s Tanner McKnight and Brian Drake.

Bethany went 1-1 last week ... The Bison closed out the PAC regular season against Saint Vincent ... The Green & White fell to the Bearcats 7-2 ... On Friday, the Bison defeated Frostburg State 6-3 ... Drake Berlin went 2-0 last week for the Bison ... No. 4 Bethany will host No. 5 Waynesburg on Tuesday in the quarterfinal round of this year’s PAC Championship Tournament.
Geneva
The Geneva men’s tennis team was off this past week ... The Golden Tornadoes will begin play in this year’s PAC Championship Tournament with a match at Saint Vincent on Tuesday.
Grove City
Grove City will be the No. 2 seed in this week’s conference tournament after dropping a 5-4 decision to W&J in the de facto regular season title match ... The Wolverines are 6-1 in league play and will host Westminster at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the quarterfinals ... Against W&J, Andrew Rodenbeck, Alex Kidd and Paul Hodge all earned individual wins ... Graham Shuman and Ed Doyle won at No. 3 doubles.
Saint Vincent
The Saint Vincent men’s tennis team concluded the regular season with a pair of conference wins: 7-2 over Bethany on Tuesday and 6-3 against Waynesburg on Wednesday ... Freshman Mauricio Sanchez continued his strong debut campaign going 4-0 overall with two wins at second singles and second doubles ... SVC will host Geneva on Tuesday in the opening round of the PAC Championship Tournament ... The match is slated for 1 p.m. at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
Thiel
The Tomcats lost to Westminster (8-1) and Medaille (8-1) last week ... Tyler Feciuch and Christian Conrad won 8-4 at third doubles against Westminster ... Feciuch also picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win at fourth singles against Medaille ... The eighth-seeded Tomcats will face the top-seeded Washington & Jefferson Presidents in a PAC Men’s Championship Tournament quarterfinal match on Tuesday.
W&J
The Presidents locked up the top seed in the PAC Championship Tournament with a narrow 5-4 road win over Grove City last Tuesday ... W&J finished the regular season at 12-3 and 7-0 in the PAC ... The Presidents host Thiel Tuesday in the PAC quarterfinals.
Waynesburg
The Waynesburg men’s tennis team wrapped up its regular season on Wednesday with a road trip to Saint Vincent ... The Yellow Jackets dropped a 6-3 contest to the Bearcats ... Senior Jonah Cooper was victorious both at first singles and first doubles ... Waynesburg travels to Bethany on Tuesday for a first round match with the Bison in the PAC Championship tournament.
Westminster
The Westminster men’s tennis team defeated the Thiel Tomcats in its only matchup last week, 8-1 ... The Titans claimed the No. 7 seed in the PAC Championship Tournament and will face No. 2 Grove City in Tuesday’s quarterfinal round.
