W&J owns 13-stroke lead after fall rounds of PAC Golf Championships 10/8/2019 6:45:19 PM Results (Rds. 1, 2) WARREN, Ohio (pacathletics.org)--Defending Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champion Washington & Jefferson College owns a 13-stroke lead over second-place Westminster College following the opening two rounds of the PAC Men's Golf Championships. W&J, winners of two-straight league titles, shot a 298 Monday and followed that up with a 302 Tuesday to post a two-round score of 600. The Presidents have claimed a conference-best 19 men's golf titles since the league's first championship event in 1956. Westminster followed up Monday's 303 with a 310 Tuesday to finish with a two-round score of 613. For the fourth-straight year, the league's 36-hole fall championship event was hosted by the Avalon Golf & Country Club in Warren, Ohio. The men played 36 holes at its par-72 Avalon Lakes course. Saint Vincent College sits in third place with a 650 (324-326) and is followed by Grove City College in fourth (652, 331-321) and Thiel College in fifth (657, 324-333). Waynesburg University is sixth (693, 346-347) while Bethany College is seventh (807, 391-416). W&J freshman Colin Robinson (Inverness, Ill. | William Fremd) claimed fall medalist honors Tuesday after registering a three-under 141. He fired a low round of 70 Monday and posted a 71 Tuesday. Westminster sophomore Michael Bell (Canonsburg, Pa. | Peters Township) is second after logging a one-over 145 (74-71) while W&J junior Garett Barilar (Bloomsburg, Pa. | Central Columbia) is third with a four-over 148 (76-72). This year’s PAC Championships feature a 54-hole stroke play event, with 36 holes contested this fall and another 18 holes played in April. The men’s championships will wrap up Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Oglebay Resort’s Speidel Golf Club (Wheeling, W.Va.) with a round on the Robert Trent Jones, Sr. course. The combined 54-hole team totals will determine PAC team champions and winners of the league's automatic qualifying bids to the 2020 NCAA Division III Championships. The All-PAC teams, as well the PAC Players of the Year, are determined by the combined 54-hole scores from the PAC’s Fall and Spring Championships. This year’s Division III Championships are scheduled for May 12-15, 2020 and will played at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The men are scheduled to compete on both The Champions and The Fazio courses.
