GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org)—This year’s Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Football Media Day will be held Thursday, August 2 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The PAC also announced the student-athletes expected to be in attendance alongside their respective head coaches Wednesday afternoon.

Saint Vincent College will host the league’s media day for the 12th-straight year. The annual event serves as the PAC's kickoff to the football season, with each of the league's 10 head coaches and student-athlete representatives addressing the media and previewing the upcoming season.

The PAC Sports Network (PACSN) will be on site to provide a live stream of the event through their website, pacstream.net.

Following a brief welcome by PAC Commissioner Joe Onderko at approximately 12:25 p.m. in the Dr. Frank Luparello Lecture Hall, located in the Sis and Herman Dupré Science Pavilion, Joe Tuscano, Assistant Sports Editor at the Observer-Reporter (Washington, Pa.), will be honored as this year’s recipient of the Dow Carnahan Media Award.

Carnahan, a longtime supporter and friend of the PAC, passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2016. The award will be presented annually to a member of the local media for his or her commendable service while covering the league’s student-athletes, coaches and programs.

Tuscano, in his 38th year with the O-R, has covered local PAC schools for decades. He took over the Washington & Jefferson College beat in 1992.

A three-time finalist and two-time winner of the Press Club of Western Pa. Golden Quill Award for sports writing, a competition recognizing professional and student excellence in print, broadcast, photography, videography and digital journalism in Western Pa. and nearby counties in Ohio and West Virginia, Tuscano was a 2014 inductee into the Southwest Pa. Wrestling Hall of Fame after earning Wrestling Writer of the Year honors from the Pa. Wrestling Coaches Association earlier in his career.

Tuscano graduated from Duquesne University in 1980 with a journalism degree. A native of New Castle, Pa., he and his wife, Pamela, have a daughter, Megan. They reside in South Franklin Township in Washington, Pa.

After the Dow Carnahan Media Award presentation, the conference's head coaches and student-athlete representatives will answer questions about the upcoming season. Each coach and student-athlete representative will be available for individual interview sessions following the general Q&A session (approx. 2:05 p.m.).

Media members in attendance, along with each institution's head coach and sports information director (SID), will participate in a preseason poll to determine the projected conference finish for the 2018 season. Full poll results will be released at the conclusion of the event and available at pacathletics.org.

Media members interested in attending PAC Football Media Day, an invitation-only event, should contact PAC Assistant Commissioner/Director of Communications Kevin Fenstermacher at 724-456-7897 or by email at fenstermacher@pacathletics.org.
