GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org) – The Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships are scheduled for Thursday, February 23 at Youngstown State University’s Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS).

Field events are slated to begin at 2 p.m. with track events to start at 3 p.m.

Admission to all PAC Championship events is $5 for adults and $2 for students. There will also be a $5 parking fee for spectators.

The 2017 PAC Championships will cap the league's third official season with indoor track and field as a championship sport. Unofficial men's and women's league championship events were held in 2013 and 2014 at Youngstown State's WATTS.

At the conclusion of Thursday’s championships, the PAC will recognize its men’s and women’s team champions, as well its men’s and women’s Most Outstanding Performers (overall, track, field), men’s and women’s Coaches of the Year and men's and women's Sportsmanship Award winners.

Fueled by individual champions in four events and one very significant relay win, Bethany College captured its second-straight PAC men’s indoor title in 2016. Bethany set three league indoor records and totaled 119.5 points during the 15-event championship. Its meet-concluding victory in the 1,600-meter relay proved to be the difference in the run to the team title, finishing with a PAC record time of 3 minutes, 24.14 seconds.

Bethany’s Umar Moore (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon) won his second-straight PAC Most Outstanding Performer award and shared the award for the league’s Most Outstanding Field performer with Westminster’s Nick Fiorentino (Franklin, Pa./Franklin). Bethany senior Andre Butler (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) claimed PAC Most Outstanding Track performer honors.

Moore, also named the PAC Most Outstanding Field performer in 2015, won his fourth-straight conference indoor title in the triple jump with a mark of 45 feet, one inch. He also claimed his third league indoor title in the long jump (23-02.75) and finished fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.16).

Fiorentino won the weight throw for the second time in the last three seasons (2014), posting a winning throw of 47-01, while also winning the shot put (45-11.75).
Butler ran to the title in the 200-meter dash with a winning time of 22.24, was third in the 400-meter dash (49.67) and finished eighth in the 60 (7.91) while also running on the winning 1600 relay.

On the women’s side, Westminster finished with a pair of individual champions and 25 top-eight scorers to win the PAC indoor title last season. The Titans, winners of the league’s unofficial championships in 2013 and 2014, set a pair of league indoor records and totaled 127.5 points during the 15-event championship.

Thomas More junior Christina Cook (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) was named the league’s Most Outstanding Performer after winning her second-straight PAC indoor title in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.28 seconds. She also won the 200-meter dash with a PAC record time of 25.94 and anchored the Saints’ winning 1,600 meter relay (4:09.24). Cook was also named the PAC Track Most Outstanding Performer after earning a share of the award in 2015.

Thomas More’s Samantha Headley (Hamilton, Ohio/Ross) was named the PAC Most Outstanding Field Performer after earning the title in the weight throw for a second-straight season, recording a winning and PAC record toss of 50 feet, 9.25 inches. She also won the shot put (38-9.50).
