BELLE VERNON, Pa. (pacathletics.org) – Washington & Jefferson College fired back-to-back rounds of 310 at this weekend’s Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Spring Men’s Golf Championship to hold off Saint Vincent College for the league title.

Cedarbrook Golf Course hosted the league's annual two-day, 36-hole spring championship event. The PAC Golf Championships feature a 72-hole stroke play event, with 36 holes played at the Fall Championships and another 36 holes played at the Spring Championships.

W&J finished its four-round, 72-hole championship run with a team score of 1,243. Saint Vincent posted a 315 on Friday, followed by a league-low round of 305 on Saturday, to finish its four championship rounds with a 1,248.

Grove City College was third with a 1,268, followed by Thomas More College in fourth (1,269), Thiel College in fifth (1,312), Westminster College in sixth (1,397), Waynesburg University in seventh (1,532) and Bethany College in eighth (1,791).

Saint Vincent senior Micah Markantone (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional) was named the PAC Spring Championship medalist after posting a two-round score of 149 (78-71). Markantone also claimed his second PAC Player of the Year award (also won in 2013) with a four-round score of 299 (76-74-78-71).

W&J seventh-year head coach Sean Dove was named the league’s Coach of the Year.

Saint Vincent and 12th-year head coach Dr. Thomas Cline were selected as the winners of the PAC Sportsmanship Award.

New for 2014-15 season, the All-PAC teams, as well the PAC Players of the Year, were determined by the combined 72-hole scores from the Fall and Spring Championships. In previous years, All-PAC and Player of the Year honors were determined exclusively at the 36-hole Spring Championships. The All-PAC teams are made up of the top 15 overall scorers (5 first team, 5 second team, 5 honorable mention).
