ATLANTA, Ga. – Atlanta rolled out the red carpet on Wednesday for the 2013 College Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Class. A sold-out crowd of 900 college football fans and dignitaries packed the Grand Ballroom of the Omni Hotel at CNN Center for a first-class celebration that honored 24 of the game's greatest legends. Westminster College quarterback Joe Micchia '90 was one of the players that were recognized.

"First, I would I like to thank everyone for being a part of this," Micchia said. "It takes great people to get to a place like this. I'm really proud to represent Westminster. I wouldn't be here without my teammates especially. The national championship teams truly believed in themselves. We always thought we were never going to lose. We might run out of time, but we were never going to lose."

The quarterback became the third Titan player (fifth overall, including two coaches) to enter the College Football Hall of Fame.

A two-time All-American (1989-First Team, 1988-Second Team), Micchia led Westminster to back-to-back undefeated seasons en route to consecutive NAIA Division II national championships. The school's first-ever 4,000-yard passer holds Titans records for career (68) and season (32) touchdown passes, and he went 31-0 as a starter. A two-time national title game MVP, he led his team to a 27-game winning streak (1988-89) that ranked as the nation's longest among all divisions at the time.

"Great buildings are meant to inspire, and there is no doubt that the new facility being built here in Atlanta will inspire generations for years to come," said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. "This year's class recognizes some of the finest players and coaches ever inducted into the Hall, and it is fitting that they take their place in history as the first class to be enshrined in Atlanta."

Hosted by the Atlanta Hall Management and the Atlanta Sports Council, in partnership with the National Football Foundation (NFF), the event marked the first time that Atlanta presided over the Enshrinement Ceremony. The celebration took place steps from the construction site for the new 94,256-square-foot home for the Hall, which will open in the fall of 2014 in the heart of Atlanta's sports, tourism and entertainment district surrounding Centennial Olympic Park.
