ORSTEIN CAPTURES THIRD NATIONAL
TITLE IN THREE DAYS; EIGHTH IN STELLAR W&J CAREER
Concluding her career as one of the top student-athletes in PAC
history,
Washington & Jefferson senior women's swimming Kaitlyn Orstein
captured the national title in the 200 breaststroke on March 15 at
the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships
in Oxford, Ohio. It was the third national crown in as many nights
for Orstein, who also earned national crowns in the 200 IM on March
13 and the 100 breaststroke on March 14, as well as the eighth
overall in her stellar career at W&J. She touched first in 2:16.29,
over two full seconds ahead of second place Annie Perizzolo
of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (2:18.31). Also on March 15, Westminster
junior Megan Mier placed 31st in the 200 backstroke
(2:10.38).
W&J'S ORSTEIN, WESTMINSTER'S MIER TO
COMPETE AT 2008 NCAA D-III CHAMPIONSHIPS
Two PAC women’s swimming
standouts – Washington & Jefferson senior
Kaitlyn Orstein and Westminster junior
Megan Mier – will compete at the
2008 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving National Championships,
taking place March 13-15 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Orstein, who enters the event as a five-time national champion and
11-time All-American, will conclude her stellar collegiate career by
competing in three individual events. Mier, who is making her second
consecutive appearance at the national meet, will compete in the 100
& 200 backstroke as well as the 200 individual medley.
ORSTEIN FEATURED IN "FACES IN THE
CROWD"
Washington & Jefferson senior swimmer
Kaitlyn Orstein appears in the March 10th issue of
Sports Illustrated magazine in the “Faces In The Crowd”
section. Last month, she won four events at the Presidents’ Athletic
Conference Championships to help W&J claim the conference team
title. For the fourth consecutive season, Orstein was selected as
the PAC Most Valuable Swimmer. In her four seasons competing at the
conference championships, Orstein won 25 PAC titles.
WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON WOMEN
CAPTURE 2008 PAC SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Washington & Jefferson College
captured the women's team title at the 2008 PAC
Swimming & Diving Championships on February 14-16 at Grove City.
The W&J women posted a 99-point advantage over the host Wolverines.
PAC MVP honors went to W&J senior Kaitlyn Orstein, while Coach of
the Year laurels were awarded to Mike Orstein of W&J.

PAC DUO SWEEPS NATIONAL SWIMMING
HONORS
The PAC swept the national Division III Swimmer of the Week
awards by the
Collegeswimming.com website, as
Tim Whitbeck of Grove City and
Kaitlyn Orstein of Washington & Jefferson have garnered this
week's honors. In addition, the Grove City men are ranked 19th and
the W&J women are ranked 16th
in the latest national rankings.

W&J'S ORSTEIN FEATURED IN SWIMMING
WORLD
Washington & Jefferson College senior Kaitlyn Orstein was
recently profiled by Swimming World magazine in its September
13th “On Campus” segment. Orstein enters her senior year in hopes of
adding to her five national championship rings. Last year, she won
two national titles and set a NCAA Division III record in the 200 IM

the Month for February, 2007.
W&J's ORSTEIN WINS SECOND
NATIONAL TITLE IN THREE DAYS AT 2007 NCAA
CHAMPIONSHIPS
Just two days after capturing her fourth career national title
in the 200 individual medley,
Washington & Jefferson College swimming standout Kaitlyn
Orstein has added another national title to her impressive
resume. The W&J junior
earned her fifth national championship by
capturing the 200 breaststroke in 2:17.36 (winning by over two
full seconds) on March 10 at the 2007 NCAA
Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by the
University of Houston in Houston, Texas. On March 8, Orstein touched first in
the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:03.13 to edge Brittany
Sasser of Amherst (2:03.78). It marked the second time in three
years Orstein in the national champion in the 200 IM, as she also
captured the title as a freshman in 2005. On March 9, Orstein
saw her bid to "three-peat" as national champion in the 400 individual medley
fall short, as she earned All-America honors by placing third in
4:24.34.
Westminster
junior Becky Giles and sophomore Megan Mier are also
competing at the national championships.
Giles and Mier placed 23rd and 49th,
respectively, in Thursday's 200 individual medley with times of
2:10.17 and 2:14.29. On Friday, Giles swam the 400 IM with a
22nd-place time of 4:38.87 and Mier took 24th in the 100 backstroke
at 1:00.46.

WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON, WESTMINSTER WOMEN CITED AS ACADEMIC
ALL-AMERICA
The
Washington & Jefferson
and
Westminster women’s swimming and diving teams each
earned Division III Team Academic All-America recognition by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The
Presidents team amassed a cumulative 3.14 grade-point average to
become one of 74 schools to collect the award. The W&J women have
been honored every year with the Academic All-America team award
since the program was started 17 years ago.
Westminster women compiled a 3.41 team
GPA, the 17th-best in the country. The recognition marks the 34th
rating period in the past 37 semesters that the Westminster women
have earned CSCAA Academic All-America Team recognition.
SWEET REPEAT: WESTMINSTER SWEEPS 2007 PAC SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS
For the second consecutive year, Westminster College has
captured the PAC men's & women's swimming & diving championships,
held Feb. 8-10 at Grove City College in Grove City, Pa.
The Titan men posted 964.5 points to edge host Grove City (926),
while the WC women recorded 865 points to top second-place
Washington & Jefferson (708.5). The 2007 MVP awards went to Grove
City junior Caleb Courage and W&J junior Kaitlyn Orstein,
while Coach of the Year laurels went to Westminster's Rob Klamut
on the men's side and W&J's Mike Orstein on the women's side.

of Bethany College as the
PAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Female Scholar-Athlete
of the Month for January, 2007.
GROVE CITY TO HOST 2007 PAC MEN'S &
WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
CHAMPIONSHIP
Grove City
College will host the 2007 PAC Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving
Championships on Thursday-Saturday, February 8-10. Morning sessions
start at 10 a.m. each day, followed by evening sessions at 6 p.m. on
Thursday and Friday and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

W&J'S ORSTEIN GARNERS ECAC WEEKLY AWARD
Washington & Jefferson junior Kaitlyn Orstein was named
ECAC
Swimmer of the Week for January 22.
Orstein helped the No. 17 Presidents
(10-1, 3-0 PAC) knock off 22nd-ranked Oberlin, 154-124, on Friday
afternoon at the Henry Memorial Natatorium by winning four events
and setting a new pool record in the 200 backstroke.
WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON, WESTMINSTER GARNER SPOTS IN DIVISION III TOP
25 RANKS
The Washington & Jefferson and Westminster women's swim teams
each earned spots in the
CollegeSwimming.com top 25 power rankings this week.
The Presidents (7-1, 1-0 PAC) are ranked 17th with 130.0 points,
while the
Titans (2-6, 1-1 PAC) are ranked 20th with 124.0 points.
WESTMINSTER'S KLAMUT EARNS MILESTONE
Westminster College head men's and women's swimming coach Rob
Klamut registered his 300th career win Friday, January 5, as
the Titan men (6-2) and women (2-6) picked up dual meet wins over
Occidental by scores of 133-70 and 120-69, respectively. Now in his
22nd year of coaching at Westminster, Klamut boasts a 160-59-2
(.729) career record as the Titan men's coach and a 140-58 (.707)
career record as the Titan women's coach for a combined career
record of 300-117-2 (.716).
