PAC AWARDS TEAM SPORTSMANSHIP HONORS
The Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) has announced the Fall 2008 PAC Team Sportsmanship Award winners. This new award is sponsored by the members of the PAC Student-Athlete-Advisory Council (SAAC), in an effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among the conference teams.

PAC TRIO NAMED TO NSCAA ALL-REGION TEAM
Three PAC women's soccer standouts were selected to the 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Great Lakes Region Third Team on December 9. Earning All-Region recognition from the NSCAA was senior F Christina Adams of Westminster, junior M Spencer Ahrenholtz of Washington & Jefferson, and freshman F Lauren Wietmarschen of Thomas More.

ALL-PAC SOCCER TEAMS RELEASED ON 11/18
The 2008 All-PAC Men's Soccer and Women's Soccer teams were released on Tuesday, November 18, with the PAC champions in both sports leading the award winners. On the men's side, senior midfielder Garrett Horvath of PAC champion Westminster was tabbed 2008 PAC Player of the Year, while Titan mentor Girish Thakar was tabbed for PAC Coach of the Year honors. On the women's side, the 2008 Player of the Year was senior goalkeeper Jackie Foltz of leaguie champion Washington & Jefferson, while President mentor Pete Curtis garnered PAC Coach of the Year laurels.

PAC TEAMS FALL IN NCAA SECOND ROUND
Both PAC soccer champions were defeated in the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs on Sunday, November 16. Westminster men's soccer battled unbeaten and #3 ranked Montclair State through over 70 minutes of scoreless action, before giving up the game's lone goal in a 1-0 defeat. The Titans close the season at 17-6. Washington & Jefferson women's soccer also suffered a second round defeat Sunday, as the Presidents were ousted by Messiah 6-0. W&J closed the campaign at 15-6-2.

W&J WOMEN ADVANCE TO NCAA 2ND ROUND
The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team posted a victory in the first round ofthe NCAA Division III playoffs, as the Presidents battled Marywood to a 1-1 tie through two overtimes, then advanced to a second round contest at Messiah on Sunday at 5 p.m. after posting a 5-4 advantage in penalty kicks.

WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON EARNS NCAA D-III SOCCER 1ST ROUND HOME GAME VS. MARYWOOD
The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team will remain at home for its first round NCAA playoff game this week. W&J (15-5-1) will host Marywood (13-5-2) in a first round contest in Washington Thursday at 6 p.m. in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Playoffs, with the winner traveling to battle Messiah (19-0-2) on Saturday.

WESTMINSTER EARNS ECAC PLAYOFF BID; TITANS HOST CATHOLIC WEDNESDAY AT 5 P.M.
Westminster women's soccer is the #2 seed in the eight-team field of the 2008 ECAC Division III South Region Tournament. The Titan kickers will host #7 Catholic in an opening round contest at Burry Stadium in New Wilmington on Wednesday (Nov. 12) at 5 p.m.

WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON OUTLASTS THOMAS MORE 1-0 IN OVERTIME FOR 2008 PAC CROWN
In one of the most improbable finishes in PAC Women’s Soccer Tournament history, the Washington & Jefferson Presidents captured their first-ever league title with a 1-0 overtime victory despite being outshot 25-3 by top-seeded Thomas More. The Presidents captured the crown and the PAC’sautomatic berth to the NCAA Division III playoffs 3:31 into the first overtime session, as junior M Jessica Swartz headed in a ball by junior M Spencer Ahrenholtz for the game’s only score. W&J has now earned the PAC's automatic bid to the 2008 NCAA Division III playoffs, with brackets and pairings to be announced on Monday, November 10.

THOMAS MORE, W&J ADVANCE TO PAC FINALS
Top seed Thomas More and third seed Washington & Jefferson have each advanced to the finals of the 2008 PAC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament following semifinal wins on Wednesday, November 5. Lauren Wietmarschen and Taylor Stoll each had a goal and an assist as the Saints posted a 2-0 victory over fourth seed Grove City in one semifinal, while the Presidents topped second seed and defending PAC champion Westminster 1-0 in double overtime on a goal by Spencer Ahrenholtz in the other semifinal contest. Thomas More will now host W&J for the PAC women's soccer title Saturday (Nov. 8) at 1 p.m.

PAC ANNOUNCES PAIRINGS FOR 2008 SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENTS
The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) has announced the pairings for the 2008 PAC Championship Tournaments in volleyball and men's & women's soccer, which take place this week (Nov. 4-8) at campus sites. Westminster College is the top seed for both volleyball and men's soccer, while Thomas More College is the top seed for women's soccer. The champions of all three tournaments will earn the PAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs in their respective sports. NCAA Division III playoffs in volleyball and soccer begin the week of November 10, 2008.

PAC PLACES 10 ON ESPN THE MAGAZINE 2008 ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT SOCCER TEAMS
Ten PAC women's soccer standouts have been selected to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II College Division Women's Soccer teams, released on October 30 by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Westminster senior M Abby Montgomery (3.95 GPA, Spanish) and W&J junior M Spencer Ahrenholtz (3.85, chemistry) were both first team honorees and now advance to the Academic All-America ballot. Second team laurels went to the Grove City trio of junior D Lauren Woodring (3.89, math/secondary ed.), junior M Michelle Peck (3.75, molecular biology) and sophomore M Emily Ostlund (3.80, molecular biology/Spanish) and W&J senior D Megan Ferderber (3.85, economics). Third team recognition went to Grove City seniors GK Diana Pragel (3.80, accounting) and F Stephanie Wild (3.55, chemistry), Westminster senior D Jessi Losteter (3.77, history) and Bethany junior D Megan Cook (3.94, psychology).

SAINT VINCENT HIRES STEWART AS COACH
Saint Vincent College has hired Rebecca Stewart as its new head women's soccer coach. She replaces Keith Harmon, who remains as Bearcat men's soccer coach. Stewart was a two-year starter and graduate of Clarion University who most recently was an assistant coach at Mount Union.

PAC PLACES SIX ON D3KICKS.COM TEAMS
A total of six PAC players, including three first team honorees, have been named to the 2007 All-Great Lakes Region Women's Soccer teams by the D3Kicks.com website. The three first teamers are senior D Brittany McKee of Westminster, freshman M Emily Ostlund of Grove City, and sophomore F Brittany Yeggy of Thomas More. Junior M Christina Adams of Westminster was tabbed to the second team, while freshman D Angie Kersting of Thomas More and junior D Kristin Colley of Grove City each captured third team laurels.

PAC PLACES RECORD EIGHT PLAYERS ON 2007 NSCAA/adidas ALL-GREAT LAKES REGION TEAMS
The PAC has placed a record eight conference women's soccer players on the 2007 NSCAA/adidas All-Great Lakes Region Teams. Leading the way were three first team selections who now move on to All-America consideration: 2007 PAC Player of the Year and sophomore F Brittany Yeggy of Thomas More, senior D Brittany McKee of Westminster and freshman M Emily Ostlund of Grove City. Second team recognition went to the Grove City duo of junior GK Kristin Colley and junior F Stephanie Wild, along with Westminster senior F Mallory Bugel. Earning third team honors was freshman D Angie Kersting of Thomas More and junior M Christina Adams of Westminster.

FLOWERS NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN
Grove City College senior women's soccer player Alix Flowers earned Third Team Academic All-America honors from ESPN The Magazine and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on November 20 through voting by a panel of sports information directors nationwide.

2007 ALL-PAC SOCCER TEAMS ANNOUNCED
The 2007 All-PAC teams for men's soccer and women's soccer were announced on November 8. Thomas More swept the Player of the Year awards, with junior Garry Sheahan capturing the men's honor and sophomore Brittany Yeggy earning the women's honor. W&J swept Coach of the Year recogntiion, with Ian McDonald receiving the men's nod and Pete Curtis capturing the women's laurel.

FOUR PAC TEAMS POST 11/7 POSTSEASON WINS
The PAC had a very successful opening night in several fall postseason tournaments on November 7, with four conference teams earning playoff victories. In women's soccer, PAC champion Westminster advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs with a 2-0 home shutout of Manhattanville. Grove City was also victorious in the opening round of the ECAC South Region Tournament, as the top-seeded Wolverine kickers edged #8 Juniata at home 3-2. In men's soccer action, PAC champion Washington & Jefferson suffered a 1-0 home setback to Penn State-Behrend in the opening round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. In a battle of PAC opponents, Westminster advanced to the semifinals of  the ECAC South Region Tournament with a 3-0 first round home shutout over Bethany. Finally, the W&J volleyball team also advanced to the ECAC South Region semifinals, as the fifth-seeded Presidents posted a 3-2 road win at #4 Lebanon Valley. Westminster women's soccer now travels to face unbeaten and #2 ranked Messiah (19-0) in a second round game Saturday at 1 p.m.

PAC PLACES TWO TEAMS IN POSTSEASON
Two PAC women's soccer teams have been selected to compete in the 2007 postseason. The Westminster women's soccer team (14-4-3) is home against Manhattanville (7-11-3) Wednesday at 1 p.m., with the winner advancing to a weekend matchup at Messiah (19-0). In addition, Grove City (15-3-1) is the top seed in an eight-team field in the ECAC Division III South Tournament and will have home field advantage throughout. The Wolverines host #8 Juniata in a first round game Wednesday at 2 p.m.

WESTMINSTER CAPTURES 2007 PAC TITLE
Fall Championship Saturday in the PAC took place on November 3. At the end of the day, Westminster College had captured PAC titles in both volleyball and women's soccer, while Washington & Jefferson College came away with the men's soccer crown. In volleyball, the top-seeded Titans swept #2 Thomas More 3-0 for the program's first conference title since 2002. Following the match, the 2007 All-PAC Volleyball Teams were announced. In women's soccer, #4 seed W&J jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the second half, but #2 Westminster rallied to tie the score 1-1. After two overtimes, the Titans captured the conference crown via a 3-2 advantage in penalty kicks. Finally in men's soccer, #2 Washington & Jefferson jumped out to a 2-0 lead, then held tight after #4 Thomas More halved the lead to come away with a 2-1 victory. All three PAC champions now receive automatic bids to next week's NCAA Division III playoffs.

PAC PLACES SEVEN ON ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT COLLEGE DIVISION WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAMS
A total of seven PAC women's soccer players have been named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II College Division Women's Soccer teams, released on Nov. 1 by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Three players - Waynesburg senior GK Amy Mills (3.70 GPA, forensic science), Grove City senior D Alix Flowers (3.95 GPA, Christian thought) and Westminster senior F Mallory Bugel (3.71 GPA, biochemistry) - were first team selections and now advance to the Academic All-America national ballot. Westminster senior M Kait Etzel-Hardman (3.86 GPA, elementary education) was a second team selection, while third team honors went to junior GK Bethany Preston (3.43, music/secondary education) and sophomore F Lauren Woodring (3.93 GPA, mathematics/education) of Grove City and junior D Megan Ferderber (3.83 GPA, economics) of W&J.



Washington & Jefferson claimed its first ever PAC women's soccer championship with an upset victory over top-seeded Thomas More.
