HARDIE TABBED AS WAYNESBURG HEAD COACH (7/13/10)
Chris Hardie
has been named the new head coach of the Waynesburg University
men’s and women’s cross country teams.
Hardie served
as the team’s assistant coach in the fall of 2009. He also just
completed his fifth season as an assistant coach with the
Waynesburg University men’s and women’s track & field teams. Hardie replaces former head
coach Blair Zimmerman,
who served as head coach for the past 11 seasons.
EIGHT FROM PAC NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT (6/3/10)
Eight standout PAC student-athletes (five men, three women)
have been selected to the
2010 ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic
All-District II cross country/track & field teams, released
today by the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Of the eight,
three garnered first team honors and will now advance to the
Academic All-America national ballot.
On the men's side, Grove City senior
Derek Kruse
(3.92 grade-point average (GPA), molecular biology) and
Westminster senior
Jeremiah Patterson (3.91, broadcast communications) were
tabbed, while second team honorees were the GCC junior duo of
Garrett Cichowitz (3.60, entrepreneuship/Christian thought)
and
Kevin Gallagher (3.88, political science/history) and
W&J sophomore
Josh Buckley (3.44, biology).
The women's team was led by first team senior
Jodi Bodo
(3.82, communication) of Bethany and a pair of second
teamers from Westminster in senior
Abbey Basta (3.79, English) and sophomore
Emily Dolsak (3.94, exploratory).
SPALDING TABBED AS NEW BETHANY COACH (1/28/10)
Brandon Spalding, a former national championship qualifier
at Bridgewater (Va.) College,
has been chosen as the new head men’s and women’s cross country
coach and assistant track & field coach at Bethany College.
Spalding replaces Matt Abel, who resigned in January.

Senior PAC student-athlete Sarah McAfee
of Thiel College have been named
PAC Student-Athlete Advisory
Committee (SAAC) Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Month for
January 2010.
PAC TEAM SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS RELEASED (12/10/09)
The Presidents’ Athletic
Conference (PAC) has announced the
PAC Team Sportsmanship Award
winners for Fall 2009 sports. The PAC Team Sportsmanship
Award was started in the 2008-09 sports season, and is an effort
to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among
conference teams. The award is sponsored by the PAC
Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and is presented to one
team in each of the 19 PAC-sponsored varsity sports.
GROVE CITY SWEEPS PAC CHAMPIONSHIPS (10/31/09)
Grove City College swept the men's and women's team and
individual titles at the
2009 PAC Men's & Women's Cross Country Championship,
held Oct. 31 at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa. The women's slate
saw Grove City freshman Sara Fisher take home MVP honors
after edging teammate and classmate Ella Smith at the
finish line for the individual title. The Wolverine women posted
17 points in PAC championship competition to easily top second
place Westminster (62), while finishing with 20 points in
overall competition, ahead of second-place Saint Vincent (75).
GCC mentor Sean Severson swept both the men's and women's
PAC Coach of the Year awards for 2009.
SAINT VINCENT TO HOST 2009 PAC MEET (10/29/09)
Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa., will be the site of
the 2009 PAC Men's & Women's Cross Country Championships,
scheduled for this Saturday (Oct. 31) with the women's
six-kilometer race beginning at 11 a.m., followed by the men's
eight-kilometer race starting at noon. Grove City College is the
defending conference champion in both men's and women's cross
country.
CU'S GREENWOOD HONORED BY PAC SAAC (10/20/09)
The PAC has announced that Samantha Greenwood of
Chatham University and Elisha Jones of Waynesburg
University have been named
Scholar-Athletes of the Month by the PAC Student-Athlete
Advisory Council (SAAC) for October, 2009.
GENEVA FRESHMAN CLAIMS NATIONAL HONORS (10/1/09)
Geneva freshman cross country runner Shannon Rech was
recognized by the National Christian College Athletic
Association (NCCAA) as the National Runner of the Week. Rech led
the Golden Tornadoes to a fourth place finish at the Saint
Vincent College Invitational last weekend and posted a
career-best time of 20:19 on the 5K course. It is the second
consecutive week a Geneva student-athlete has been handed a
national honor.
GROVE CITY'S WOMEN'S TEAM RANKED NO. 32 (10/1/09)
The Grove City
women's cross country team is ranked No. 32 in the country
by the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches
Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Naitonal Poll. Grove City
received 21 voter points in making its first appearance in the
national poll this season.
GROVE CITY RANKED 4TH IN MIDEAST (9/22/2009)
Grove City's women's cross country team is
ranked fourth in the Mideast Region by the United States
Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Wolverines moved up two spots since the Sept. 7 poll.
GENEVA'S OTTE RESIGNS; YOWLER TO COACH GTs (8/2/09)
Geneva head cross country and track & field coach
Bret Otte has resigned to take the head track & field
coaching position at his alma mater, Calvin College. Brian
Yowler, who has served as Otte's cross country assistant for
the past three years, was named the program's new head coach. A
national search for a new track & field head coach is underway.
BETHANY TABS ABEL AS NEW HEAD COACH
Matt Abel
has been selected as the new head men’s and women’s cross
country coach and assistant track and field coach at Bethany
College. Abel is a former collegiate standout at Wheeling Jesuit
who most recently was a Wheeling Park High School assistant
coach.

GCC TRIO HEADED FOR NCAA NATIONALS
Three Grove City College cross country runners - women's
seniors Kristen Carter and Julia Seward and men's
sophomore Garrett Cichowitz - have qualified for the
NCAA Division III Men's & Women's Cross Country National
Championships, to be hosted by Hanover College in Hanover,
Ind., on Saturday, November 22. Carter and Seward placed second
and third, respectively, at the
NCAA Division III Mideast Regional, hosted by PAC member
Waynesburg University on Saturday. Cichowitz finished in 17th
place at the
men's regional at Waynesburg.
SAINT VINCENT 12TH AT ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Saint Vincent
College senior cross country runner Adam Smith capped off his
collegiate career
by capturing the individual championship at the
2008 ECAC Championship meet on Saturday in Bristol, RI. Smith
took first place out of 322 runners by covering the eight-kilometer
course in 26:18. The Bearcat men took seventh in a 48-team field at
the event, while the
Lady Bearcats were 12th out of 42 teams, paced by Katie
Macioce's 12th-place finish.
GROVE CITY HARRIERS SWEEP 2008 PAC CROSS
COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS ON NOVEMBER 1
Grove City College successfully defended its men's and women's
team titles at the
2008 PAC Men's & Women's Cross Country
Championships, hosted by Thomas More College at Voice of America
Park in West Chester, Ohio, on Saturday, November 1. 2008 MVP awards
went to the Grove City duo of Garrett Cichowitz and
Kristen Carter, while Saint Vincent senior
Adam Smith won the men's individual race title. Coach of
the Year laurels went to Thiel Kevin Pool for men
and Grove City's Sean Severson for women. All
