PAC TEAMS HONORED BY ITA FOR ACADEMICS (8/24/10)
Three PAC tennis programs - Grove City, Waynesburg and Westminster - have been named All-Academic Teams for both men and women by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for posting team grade-point averages of 3.2 or higher during the 2009-10 academic year. In addition, 29 PAC men's & women's tennis players (15 women, 14 men) were tabbed as ITA Scholar-Athletes for recording a GPA of 3.5 or better during the past academic year.

CANNING NAMED PAC SAAC SCHOLAR-ATHLETE (5/17/10)
Men's tennis standout Jeff Canning of Waynesburg University has been named PAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month for May 2010.

GROVE CITY EARNS 20TH STRAIGHT PAC TITLE (4/24/10)
Perennial PAC power Grove City College earned its 20th consecutive conference men's tennis team title Saturday at the conclusion of the two-day 2010 PAC Men's Tennis Championship at the Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie, Pa. The Wolverines of 2010 PAC Coach of the Year Joe Walters captured seven of the nine flights to finish with 50 team points, comfortably ahead of second place Waynesburg (28). Conference player of the year recognition went to Washington & Jefferson senior Christopher Faulk, who recorded a straight set victory at first singles. GCC ROLLING TOWARD 20TH STRAIGHT PAC TITLE (4/23/10)
Perennial PAC power Grove City College is in command after day one of the two-day 2010 PAC Men's Tennis Championship at the Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie, Pa. The Wolverines of head coach Joe Walters did not lose a set en route to advancing to the finals in all nine flights on Friday, finishing the day with 36 points, comfortably ahead of second place Waynesburg (24). Grove City can now clinch its 20th consecutive PAC men's tennis team title Saturday. Saturday play begins at 8:30 a.m. with the consolation and championship doubles finals, followed by consolation singles and championship singles. 2010 PAC CHAMPIONSHIP OPENS FRIDAY (4/22/10)
The Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie, Pa., will be the site of the 2010 PAC Men's Tennis Championship this Friday and Saturday (April 23-24) beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day. Grove City College is the overwhelming favorite, as the Wolverines have won 19 consecutive conference titles and swept through a 5-0 conference record without losing a match this season. Waynesburg (4-1 vs. PAC) and Westminster (3-2) should provide the top competition for GCC. DUNFORD REPLACES GANNON AS THIEL COACH (4/13/10)
Thiel has announced the hiring of Tim Dunford as the new head coach of the recently revived Tomcat men's & women's tennis teams. He replaced Andrew Gannon, who was hired to lead the programs two months ago but was recently forced to resign due to health concerns. Dunford comes to Thiel after serving as head tennis professional at Dominion Valley Country Club in Haymarket, Va. since February of 2009.  Concurrently, he also worked as an assistant tennis pro at Burke Racquet & Swim Club in Burke, Va. Prior to his most recent stint as a pro, Dunford spent two years as an assistant men's and women's tennis coach at Mount Olive College, where the men's team rose as high as 30th in the 2007-08 national rankings.

GANNON HIRED TO LEAD NEW THIEL PROGRAMS (2/18/10)
Thiel College has hired Andrew Gannon to lead the recently revived Tomcat varsity men's and women's tennis programs. Gannon comes to Thiel from his alma mater, Austin (Tex.) College, where he served as head tennis coach for six years. Thiel recently re-instated both sports, which had been dropped by the school back in 2006.

THIEL ANNOUNCES ADDITION OF MEN'S TENNIS (12/18/09)
Thiel College will add four new athletics programs to its offerings for the 2010-11 school term. Thiel’s new sports will include men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s lacrosse. All four programs will compete at the NCAA Division III level and bring the Tomcats’ total number of athletic teams to 24.

GCC'S DWYER NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN
Grove City College senior tennis player Jeremy Dwyer earned Men's At-Large College Division Second Team Academic All-America recognition from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and ESPN The Magazine on Tuesday, June 9. It is Dwyer's second career Academic All-America citation. In 2008, he earned Third Team Academic All-America. This year, Dwyer won Presidents' Athletic Conference titles at fourth singles and third doubles. He finished his career with 52 singles wins and 39 doubles victories. His career record is 91-20 overall.

GROVE CITY COLLEGE CAPTURES 19TH STRAIGHT TITLE AT 2009 PAC CHAMPIONSHIPS IN ERIE, PA
The Grove City College men's tennis program swept all nine flights en route to capturing its 19th consecutive team title at the 2009 PAC Men's Tennis Championships, which took place at the Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie, Pa., on Friday-Saturday, April 17-18. The Wolverines of 2009 PAC Coach of the Year Joe Walters earned a maximum-possible 54 points, followed by Washington & Jefferson (27), Waynesburg (23), Westminster (18), Thomas More (11) and Bethany (2). GCC senior John Moyer earned PAC Player of the Year laurels for the second consecutive season after winning the first singles and doubles titles. Final singles and doubles brackets are now online.

PAC TENNIS TEAMS, PLAYERS EARN ITA HONORS
Several PAC tennis teams and student-athletes have been named have earned 2008 All-Academic honors by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The ITA Academic Team Award, given to squads with a cumulative team grade-point average (GPA) or 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale, was given to the Westminster and Grove City men. ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, given to varsity players who posted a 3.5 GPA or higher in the most recent academic year, were given to eight PAC men's tennis student-athletes. Grove City led the men's side with five players (Chris Baker, Peter Davis, Bill Derocha, Jeremy Dwyer, Jon Pombo), joined by the Westminster duo of J.D. Eicher and Scott Lawrence along with Jeff Canning of Waynesburg.

DWYER NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN
Grove City junior tennis standout Jeremy Dwyer has been tabbed to the ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-America Men's At-Large Third Team, released by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on June 10. Dwyer, who led GCC to the PAC men's tennis title after capturing conference titles and fourth singles and third doubles, possesses a 3.91 cumulative GPA majoring in electrical engineering.
