GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org)--The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced its 2019 All-PAC baseball teams and annual award winners Tuesday morning. The All-PAC baseball teams, along with the PAC's yearly award winners, were determined by a vote of the league's nine head coaches.

Thiel College senior outfielder Nick Fowkes (New Eagle, Pa. | Ringgold) was selected as the PAC’s Player of the Year, while Washington & Jefferson College junior right-hander Ben Marsico (Bradford Woods, Pa. | North Allegheny) collected PAC Pitcher of the Year honors. W&J 17th-year head coach Jeff Mountain was voted the PAC’s Coach of the Year.

Also announced Tuesday were the members of this year's PAC Sportsmanship Team. The PAC’s Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior and are an ongoing effort to both recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all conference teams.

In 39 games this season, Fowkes hit a league-leading .447 (71-for-159) with 15 doubles, three triples and five home runs. His .447 average is a Thiel single-season record, surpassing Lynn Jones' .440 average in 1974. He also leads the PAC in hits (71), on-base percentage (.494), RBIs (46) and total bases (107). His 47 runs scored are tied for first among league leaders while his .673 slugging percentage ranks second.

Fowkes' 71 hits this season rank eighth in NCAA Division III, and second in Thiel program history, while his .447 average ranks 10th among Division III leaders. His 46 RBIs are the fifth-most in a single season in Thiel program history. In 24 PAC regular season games, Fowkes hit .415 (39-for-94) with eight doubles, two triples and a pair of home runs. He finished with 30 runs scored and 26 RBIs during the league's regular season.

His .360 career batting average ranks fifth among Thiel's all-time leaders.

Fowkes is Thiel's sixth PAC Player of the Year selection. This is his first All-PAC honor.

Marsico is currently 10-1 (11 starts), which includes a pair of combined shutouts, with a 3.36 earned-run average (ERA). His 10 victories this season lead the league and are tied for fourth in Division III. Marsico's 10 wins also rank third among W&J's single season leaders, trailing only Eddie Nogay (12 wins in 2013) and Riley Groves (11 wins in 2017).

He has also totaled 50 strikeouts to just eight walks in 69.2 innings pitched. In seven PAC regular season starts (8 appearances), Marsico went 8-0 with a pair of complete games while posting a 2.68 ERA.

Marsico is W&J's third-straight PAC Pitcher of the Year selection and eighth award winner since 2009. He was an All-PAC Second Team selection in 2018.

The PAC Coach of the Year citation is Mountain's eighth. He led top-seeded W&J (32-11) to its 12th PAC title last Saturday. It was the eighth conference championship claimed by W&J under Mountain. The Presidents are set to make their seventh appearance in the Division III Championship Friday when they take on No. 8 Salisbury University (34-8-1) in Salisbury, Md.
