GREENSBURG, Pa. (pacathletics.org)--Second-seeded Washington & Jefferson College earned a 5-3 victory over top-seeded Grove City College Saturday afternoon in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Tennis Championship Tournament title match.

Saturday's championship match was played at Greensburg Racquet Club (Greensburg, Pa.).

W&J senior Caitlin Shellhamer (Birdsboro, Pa. | Daniel Boone) secured the match-deciding win, defeating Grove City freshman Logan Fuss (Grove City, Pa. | Grove City) 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.

The league title was W&J's first. Grove City has a PAC-best 30 conference titles.

This was the second year the PAC Championship Tournament used a team format. The league had previously sponsored a flighted championship, with individual players and doubles pairings exclusively seeded and not based on a team's regular-season finish, since supporting a full complement of women’s sports (1985-2017).

With Saturday's win, W&J secured the PAC’s automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championships. Team selections for the NCAA Division III Championships will be announced on Monday, May 4 with first, second and third rounds scheduled for Friday-Sunday, May 8-10.
