GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org) – The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced its 2018 All-PAC Softball teams and annual award winners Wednesday morning. The All-PAC teams, along with the PAC's annual award winners, are determined by vote of the league's 10 head coaches.

Westminster College senior pitcher Jazmyn Rohrer (Purcellville, Va. | Woodgrove) was selected as this year’s PAC Player of the Year, while Bethany College veteran head coach Jan Forsty collected PAC Coach of the Year honors.

Also announced Wednesday were the members of this year's PAC Sportsmanship Team. The PAC’s Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior and are an ongoing effort to both recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all conference teams.

Rohrer, a three-time All-PAC First Team selection, is just the second Westminster player to earn the league’s Player of the Year award (Jennifer Pancake, 2007). She leads the PAC in earned-run average (0.95), strikeouts (235) and opposing batting average (.162) and is second in victories (20) and appearances (28). Her strikeouts per seven innings (10.2) rank sixth in NCAA Division III, while her hits allowed per seven innings (4.04) rank eighth. Her ERA ranks ninth in Division III and her strikeout-to-walk ratio (8.10) ranks 12th.

Rohrer was recognized as the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Pitcher of the Week April 18. That week she went 5-0 in six appearances (4 starts) in the circle, logging 33 1/3 innings and yielding just three runs (3 earned) for a 0.63 ERA. The senior fanned a career-high 17 batters in the Titans’ 3-2 game one victory over PAC rival Geneva College. She posted double-digit strikeouts in each of her four starts and finished with a combined total of 64 strikeouts while walking just four.

A two-time NFCA Division III All-Central Region Second Team selection, Rohrer’s 235 strikeouts in 2018 set a Westminster single-season record. She also holds Westminster’s career strikeouts record with 735.

Last month, after 31 seasons of leading the Bethany softball program, Forsty announced her plans to retire from coaching following the 2018 season. She will continue to serve as a professor and chair of the physical education and sports studies department at Bethany.

Bethany has claimed a PAC-best 13 conference titles under Forsty. This year's PAC Coach of the Year award is also Forsty's 13th.

Forsty has been a mainstay at Bethany since arriving on campus in 1987 as the head coach of the softball and field hockey teams. From that point on, she led the Bison softball program to unparalleled success with 687 wins. She ranks 15th in NCAA Division III history with 767 career victories.

Forsty elevated the softball program to national prominence when she led the squad to its third-consecutive, and fourth overall, trip to the Division III Championships in 2004. Her best year came in 2002 when Bethany compiled a 32-10 record and secured its second-ever bid to the Division III Championships, and first since 1997. The Bison went on to win the Central Region and earn a trip to the Division III World Series for the first time in program history. Forsty's team dropped their first two games at the World Series, including a 1-0 loss to eventual national champion Ithaca College, but finished the year ranked sixth in the country in the final NFCA Division III poll.

PAC champion Thomas More College (31-14) will open this year’s Division III Championships at Illinois Wesleyan University Friday (1:30 p.m. EDT). The Saints and 10th-year head coach Lindsay Eagan won their second-straight PAC Championship Tournament title last Sunday. It was Thomas More’s seventh conference championship.

PAC runner-up Westminster (27-9) was invited to compete in this year’s Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship Monday afternoon. The Titans and 22nd-year head coach Jan Reddinger earned the number two seed in the eight-team championship field and will host seventh-seeded Neumann University (24-16) Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
