GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org) – The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced its 2018 All-PAC baseball teams and annual award winners Tuesday afternoon. The All-PAC baseball teams, along with the PAC's annual award winners, are determined by vote of the league's 10 head coaches.

Thomas More College senior second baseman Ben Laumann (Cincinnati, Ohio | Oak Hills) was selected as the PAC’s Player of the Year, while Washington & Jefferson College senior right-hander Bryce Schnatterly (Cranberry Township, Pa. | Seneca Valley) collected PAC Pitcher of the Year honors. Thomas More 18th-year head coach Jeff Hetzer was voted the PAC’s Coach of the Year.

Also announced Tuesday were the members of this year's PAC Sportsmanship Team. The PAC’s Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior and are an ongoing effort to both recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all conference teams.

In 42 games this season, Laumann hit .345 (58-for-168) with 16 doubles, four triples and seven home runs. He is tied for first among the league leaders in runs scored (55) while his 16 doubles, 103 total bases and 17 stolen bases rank second. In 17 PAC regular-season games, Laumann hit .391 (27-for-69) with a PAC-best 30 runs scored. He finished the circuit with a .506 on-base percentage, a .797 slugging percentage and six home runs while going a perfect 10-for-10 in stolen base attempts.

Laumann is Thomas More’s fourth PAC Player of the Year selection. He is also a four-time All-PAC First Team honoree. His 197 career runs rank first all-time at Thomas More, while his 216 career hits rank second. He is also just one double shy (55) of tying the program record.

Schnatterly finished the season 7-0 (10 starts), which included a pair of complete games and a shutout, to go along with a 1.98 earned-run average. His ERA leads the league while his win total is tied for the top spot. He posted 54 strikeouts, third-best in the PAC, and logged 68 1/3 innings, fifth-best in the league. In six PAC regular-season starts, Schnatterly went 5-0 with a 1.82 ERA.

Schnatterly picked up the 22nd win of his career in last Friday’s 8-1 victory over Thiel College in the PAC Championship Tournament, which ranks fifth in program history. He is W&J’s seventh PAC Pitcher of the Year selection since 2009. His .815 career winning percentage is the third highest in PAC history.

The PAC Coach of the Year citation is Hetzer’s fourth. He led second-seeded Thomas More (24-18) to its fifth PAC title last Saturday. The Saints are set to make their eighth appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship Thursday when they take on seventh-ranked Webster University (36-8) at GCS Credit Union Ballpark in Sauget, Illinois.
