Saint Vincent women claim PAC Golf title

PAC Championships results

WHEELING, W.Va. (pacathletics.org) – The Saint Vincent College women's golf team earned its first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) title with a convincing 32-stroke victory Saturday at Oglebay Resort’s Speidel Golf Club.

The women played their spring round on the Speidel’s Arnold Palmer course. 

Saint Vincent (702) entered the final round of the 54-hole event with a 28-stroke lead over second-place Thomas More College (730). The Bearcats responded a 368 Saturday, the lowest team score of the event.  

Thomas More finished with an 1102 (730-372). Westminster College was third (1105, 736-369), Washington & Jefferson College was fourth (1128, 739-389) and Grove City College was fifth (1280, 839-441). 

Westminster senior Kelsey Phillips (Pittsburgh, Pa. | North Allegheny) was named the PAC Player of the Year for the second-straight year. Phillips carded an 87 Saturday and totaled a PAC-best 54-hole score of 255 (she shot a 36-hole score of 168 last fall). 

Saint Vincent freshman Sydney Ball (Pittsford, N.Y. | Pittsford Mendon) tied Phillips with a round-best 87 Saturday and finished third with a 258 (shot a 171 last fall).
