GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org) – The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced its 2017-18 All-PAC Men's Swimming and Diving teams Monday, with a total of 38 student-athletes recognized for their efforts at this year's PAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

The all-conference swimming and diving teams are determined by a formula-based selection process using student-athletes' individual and relay finishes at the conference's annual championships.

Westminster College led the way with 15 all-conference selections. Grove City College totaled 13 honorees, while Saint Vincent College finished with eight. Bethany College and Washington & Jefferson College each finished with one.

Westminster posted its fourth-straight PAC team title on February 18. The conference championship is Westminster's ninth. The Titans led the five-team championship field with 908 points. Grove City was the runner-up with 903 points and was followed by Saint Vincent in third (687), W&J in fourth (248) and Bethany in fifth (185).

The conference championships were held at Grove City's James E. Longnecker Competition Pool. Longnecker Pool has been the home of the league’s swimming and diving championships since 1990.

PAC Swimmer of the Year honors went to Saint Vincent junior Jacob Davis (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Brashear). He is the first-ever conference swimmer of the year in program history. Saturday, Davis won the 100 free with a Saint Vincent, pool and PAC Championship record and NCAA Division III B-cut time of 44.36 seconds. He also anchored Saint Vincent’s winning 400 free relay that set a school record with a time of 3 minutes, 5.00 seconds. Other members of the relay included freshman Zach Baum (Derry, Pa. | Derry Area), freshman John Martin (Canonsburg, Pa. | Pa. Home School (Peters Township)) and senior Alex Bolen (Pitcairn, Pa. | Gateway). Friday, Davis won the 200 free with a B-cut time of 1:39.88. Thursday, Davis won his second-straight PAC title in the 50 free with a school record and B-cut time of 20.29 seconds. He also swam on the Bearcats’ winning 200 free relay (1:22.88).

Westminster freshman Connor May (Highlands Ranch, Colo. | Glacier Park) was named the PAC’s Diver of the Year, becoming the first-ever conference diver of the year in program history. Thursday, May won the 11-dive, three-meter event with a score of 573.75 points. His score established new pool and PAC open records and surpassed W&J’s Pat Pyrch’s PAC Championship record score of 573.40, set on Feb. 28, 1983. Saturday, May won the 11-dive, one-meter event with a score of 527.20. His score established a new pool record and also surpassed the PAC open and PAC Championship record score of 501.72, set by John Carroll University’s Doug Virden on Feb. 28, 1978. May met the Division III regional qualifying standard in each event.

PAC Swimming Coach of the Year honors went to Grove City 16th-year head coach Dave Fritz.

Westminster’s Heath Calhoun, in his fourth year with the Titans, claimed the PAC’s Diving Coach of the Year award. It is his first coach of the year citation.

The PAC's Sportsmanship team included: Bethany junior Cheyne Stresky (Oxford, Mich. | Oxford), Grove City senior Bretty Gwynn (Irwin, Pa. | Hempfield), Saint Vincent's Baum, W&J senior Owen Hanna (Reading, Pa. | Governor Mifflin) and Westminster senior Tyler Sheets (Lock Haven, Pa. | Central Mountain).

The PAC’s Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior and are an ongoing effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all of conference teams.
