CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. (pacathletics.org) – Top-seeded Thomas More College claimed its sixth Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Softball Championship Tournament title Sunday afternoon with its 3-1 victory over second-seeded Westminster College.

The four-team, double-elimination championship tournament was hosted by Thomas More. Inclement weather forced the tournament’s opening day to be shifted from Friday to Saturday.

Thomas More, hosting the league’s championship tournament for the first time since 2014, is the first number one seed to win the conference title since Bethany College in 2011. The Saints also won PAC titles in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2015.

Following the conclusion of Sunday’s championship trophy presentation, Thomas More sophomore pitcher Alix DeDreu (Rising Sun, Ind. | Rising Sun) was recognized as the championship tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. She earned the victory in Sunday’s title-clinching win over Westminster, which marked her third of the tournament.

With its championship tournament title, Thomas More secured the league's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship, with regional preliminary round play scheduled to get underway Thursday-Friday, May 11-12. It will be the Saints' eighth Division III Championship appearance and sixth under ninth-year head coach Lindsay Eagan. Team and site selections for the Division III Championship will be announced Monday at 1 p.m. (EDT) and streamed live on ncaa.com.
