GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org) – The men’s athletic program at Thomas More College and women’s athletic program at Westminster College captured their respective Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) All-Sports Trophies for the 2016-17 academic year.

The all-sports trophies are annually awarded to the schools which perform the best across the board in league competition. First-place finishes are worth 10 points, runner-up finishes are worth nine points ... last place is worth one point.

The all-sports trophy is Thomas More’s first. The Saints highest previous finish was third in 2010. They used spring titles in golf and tennis, a runner-up finish in outdoor track and field and a third-place showing in baseball to secure this year’s trophy. Thomas More combined for 90 points in the league’s 11 championship sports.

Last year’s all-sports trophy winner, Washington & Jefferson College, was second with 77.50 points while Grove City College finished third (70). Saint Vincent College and Westminster College (63.50) finished tied for fourth. Bethany College (52) was sixth, Geneva College seventh (50), Thiel College eighth (45), Waynesburg University ninth (44.50) and Chatham University 10th (4).

Westminster overcame a 3.50 point deficit after the winter season to claim its eighth all-sports trophy, and first since 2012, with runner-up finishes in both softball and outdoor track and field and a third-place showing in golf this spring.

Westminster totaled 74.50 points in the league’s 10 championship sports, besting second-place Thomas More (72) by 2.50 points. The Saints also finished as runners-up after the 2016 season. Thomas More claimed spring titles in golf and softball and finished fifth in outdoor track and field.

Last year's all-sports trophy winner, Grove City, was third with 70.50 points. W&J finished fourth (64) and was followed by Saint Vincent in fith (58), Waynesburg in sixth (54), Geneva in seventh (46.50), Bethany in eighth (38), Thiel in ninth (26) and Chatham in 10th (25.50).
