Waynesburg women defend PAC outdoor track & field title

PAC Championships results

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (pacathletics.org) – The Waynesburg University women’s outdoor track and field program ran away with the team title at this weekend’s Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships, which were held at Geneva College’s Merriman Athletic Complex.

The conference championship was Waynesburg’s second-straight and third in program history (2013).

Waynesburg accumulated 184 team points during the 19-event championship.

Westminster College finished as the runner-up with 118 points. Grove City College was third (115) and was followed by host Geneva in fourth (110), Thomas More College in fifth (55) and Washington & Jefferson College in sixth (43). Bethany College and Chatham University tied for seventh (43.50), Thiel College finished ninth (30) and Saint Vincent College was 10th (15).

Geneva junior Nicole Bartoletta (Monaca, Pa. | Central Valley) was voted the meet’s Most Valuable Performer, becoming the school's first-ever PAC Championships MVP.

After posting a time of 14.76 seconds in the preliminaries of the 100 hurdles Friday, Bartoletta won the event with a time of 15.05 seconds Saturday afternoon. She finished as the runner-up in both the 100 (12.61) and 200 (25.64) and was a member of Geneva’s winning 4x100 relay, which established a new school record and tied the existing PAC Championships record with a winning time of 48.26 seconds. She also ran as a member of Geneva's fifth-place 4x400 relay (4:16.85). Bartoletta was also the event’s Track MVP.

Waynesburg junior Addy Knetzer (Houston, Pa. | Chartiers-Houston) claimed Field MVP honors for the third-straight year. She won the shot put with a PAC Championships record throw of 43 feet, 11.75 inches (13.40m) and also won the discus (121-10, 37.15m) while finishing fourth in the javelin (113-03, 34.52m).

Waynesburg 13th-year head coach Jason Falvo was voted the league’s Coach of the Year.
