GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org) – The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) has announced its 2016-17 All-PAC Women's Swimming and Diving teams, with a total of 45 student-athletes recognized for their efforts at this year's PAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

The all-conference swimming and diving teams are determined by a formula-based selection process using student-athletes' individual and relay finishes at the conference's annual championships.

Grove City College led the way with 14 all-conference selections. Westminster College totaled 12 honorees, while Saint Vincent College and Washington & Jefferson College each had seven. Chatham University finished with four and Bethany College with one.

Grove City captured its league-best 15th PAC Championship on February 11. The team title is Grove City’s ninth straight.

Grove City led the six-team championship field with 909 points. Westminster finished as the runner-up with 772 points and was followed by Saint Vincent in third (594), W&J in fourth (437), Chatham in fifth (340) and Bethany in sixth (137).

The conference championships were held at Grove City’s James E. Longnecker Competition Pool. Longnecker Pool has been the home of the league’s swimming and diving championships since 1990.

PAC Most Valuable Performer in Swimming honors went to Grove City freshman Anne Shirley Dassow (Lookout Mountain, Tenn. / Chattanooga Christian). Individually, she claimed PAC titles in the 100 butterfly (55.75), 100 backstroke (57.30) and 200 butterfly (2:01.91) while achieving NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standards in each. She also established new Longnecker Pool, PAC open and PAC Championships records in the 100 butterfly.

Dassow also swam on Grove City’s winning 200 freestyle (1:36.16), 400 medley (3:53.97) and 200 medley relays. The Wolverines’ 200 medley relay established new Longnecker Pool, PAC open and PAC Championships records while meeting the Division III provisional qualifying standard with a winning time of one minute, 45.61 seconds.

Chatham senior Emily Hinson (Elizabethtown, Pa. / Elizabethtown Area) was named the PAC’s Most Valuable Performer in Diving after claiming titles in the 11-dive, three-meter event (495.70) Thursday and 11-dive, one-meter event (477.45) Saturday. Her preliminary score of 496.15 points on the one-meter board Saturday set new PAC open and PAC Championship records as well as a new Longnecker Pool record. Hinson qualified for the Division III Regional Championships in both events.

PAC Swimming Coach of the Year honors went to Grove City ninth-year head coach Dave Fritz for the seventh time since the 2010 season.

Chatham’s Charlie Hauser, now in his fourth season with the Cougars, claimed the PAC Diving Coach of the Year award for the second-straight year.

Chatham was selected as the recipient of the PAC’s Team Sportsmanship Award.
