PAC announces all-conference women’s volleyball teams, award winners

GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org) – The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released its 2015 All-PAC women's volleyball teams and conference award winners Tuesday.

The conference’s 10 head volleyball coaches selected the All-Conference teams and the league’s award winners.

Thomas More College senior outside hitter Stacy Howell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Glen Este) was named the PAC Player of the Year, while Bethany College freshman libero Reilly Parker (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) collected the league's Freshman of the Year award.

PAC Coach of the Year honors went to Thomas More eighth-year head coach John Spinney. The Coach of the Year honor is Spinney's fifth.

Grove City College and second-year head coach Erin Street were voted winners of the PAC’s Team Sportsmanship Award.

Howell and the top-seeded Saints won their fourth-straight PAC Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament title Saturday with a 3-0 victory over third-seeded Bethany at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The league championship is Thomas More’s seventh since joining the PAC in 2005.

Howell, a two-time All-PAC Second Team selection (2014, 2013), led the PAC in kills (395, 4.34/s) and points scored (445.5, 4.90/s), finished fourth in hitting percentage (.293), and fifth in service aces (42, 0.46/s). Her 4.90 points per set and 4.34 kills per set averages rank 12th and 13th, respectively, among all NCAA Division III counterparts. 

Parker led the PAC in both digs (677, 5.64/s) and service aces (59, 0.49/s). Her 677 digs rank 10th in Division III this season. 

Thomas More (26-4) will travel to Mount Berry, Georgia on Thursday, November 12 to take on Berry College (24-7) in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championship. The Saints are making their school-record 14th appearance in the Division III Championship.

Bethany and Geneva recently accepted invitations to participate in the 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Championship. In Wednesday’s opening round, fourth-seeded Bethany (29-9) will hosted fifth-seeded DeSales University (22-11), while sixth-seeded Geneva (26-8) will play at third-seeded Lebanon Valley College (21-10).
