GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org) – The Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) announced its 2014 All-PAC Baseball teams, as voted on by each of the league's nine head coaches, Tuesday morning.

Washington & Jefferson College senior outfielder Josh Staniscia (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) was selected as the 2014 PAC Most Valuable Player, while Washington & Jefferson College senior right-hander Eddie Nogay (Weirton, W. Va./Madonna) was selected as the 2014 PAC Pitcher of the Year. Staniscia and Nogay also earned spots on the All-PAC first team.

Thomas More College’s Jeff Hetzer was named the 2014 PAC Coach of the Year.

Thomas More (23-17), winners of last weekend's PAC Championship Tournament, received the conference’s automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship and will travel to Marietta College's Don Schaly Stadium to compete in the Mideast Regional on Wednesday, May 14. The Saints open the double-elimination tournament against Case Western Reserve University (30-10), a Pool B qualifier (at-large), at 8 p.m.

Staniscia is the first W&J player to earn the league’s Most Valuable Player award since Jim Pasquine in 2010.

W&J’s career hits leader (251), Staniscia surpassed the previous program record of 221, recorded by Pasquine '10, after going three-for-four in an 11-5 victory over Thomas More on April 19.

Staniscia led the PAC in hits (58), RBIs (36), triples (5) and total bases (79), was third in stolen bases (14-16), fifth in runs scored (29) and doubles (11), sixth in batting average (.389) and slugging percentage (.530) and ninth in on-base percentage (.433).

Nogay, also named the league’s Pitcher of the Year in 2013, finished the season 6-1 (10 starts) with a 2.50 earned run average. He concluded his career with an overall win-loss record of 28-2 (37 starts) and an ERA of 2.59. His 28 career victories broke the previous program record of 26, which was held by 2007 graduate and former Presidents' All-American, Sam Mann.

Nogay's 2.50 ERA ranks second in the league, while his win total (6) is third and his innings pitched (68.1) ranks sixth.

Hetzer, in his 14th season with Thomas More, guided the second-seeded Saints to a 3-0 record at last weekend’s PAC Championship Tournament to claim the league title. The Coach of the Year award is Hetzer’s second (2011). This year’s championship is the third for the Saints (2014, 2011, 2010) since joining the PAC in 2006.
