PAC announces all-conference women’s volleyball teams

GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org) – The Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) released its 2014 All-PAC women’s volleyball teams and conference award winners Tuesday.

Thomas More College senior libero Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L’Anse Creuse) collected PAC Player of the Year honors for the second-straight season.

Thomas More setter Jenna Fessler (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) was tabbed the league’s Freshman of the Year.

PAC Coach of the Year honors went to Thomas More seventh-year head coach John Spinney. The Coach of the Year honor is Spinney’s fourth.

Grove City College was voted the winner of the PAC Team Sportsmanship Award.

Castiglioni and the top-seeded Saints (29-4) won their third-straight PAC Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament title with a 3-0 victory over third-seeded Geneva College Saturday evening at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Ky. The conference championship is the Saints' sixth since joining the PAC in 2005.

Castiglioni finished the PAC season tops in digs per set (5.72) and second in total digs (601). She also had a PAC-best 59 service aces.

Fessler totaled 998 assists on the season, the second-most in the league, and led the conference with an 11.47 assists per set average.

Thomas More will travel to St. Louis, Missouri on Friday, November 14 to take on Millikin University in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championship. The Saints are making their 13th appearance in the national championship tournament.

Bethany and Geneva recently accepted invitations to participate in the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southwest Women's Volleyball Championship. In Wednesday’s opening round, second-seeded Geneva (24-10) will host seventh-seeded Penn State Altoona (16-12), while fourth-seeded Bethany (24-13) will play host to fifth-seeded Penn State Behrend (18-12).
