GREENVILLE, Pa. – The men’s athletic program at Washington & Jefferson College and the women’s athletic program at Grove City College have captured their respective 2012-13 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) All-Sports Trophies.

The all-sports trophies are annually awarded to the schools which perform the best across the board in league competition. First-place finishes are worth 10 points (nine for men), second place is worth nine points (eight for men) ... last place is worth one point.

W&J has won outright the last three men’s All-Sports Trophies and has either won or tied for the top spot in each of the last nine years.

The Presidents used a first-place finish in baseball, a second-place finish in golf and a third-place finish in track and field during the spring season to lock up this year’s trophy. W&J totaled 66 points in the conference’s 10 sponsored men’s sports, winning league titles in baseball and football.

Grove City College finished second with 56 points, followed by Saint Vincent College (53), Thomas More College (49.5), Waynesburg University (49), Thiel College (45.5), Westminster College (41.5), Bethany College (30.5) and Geneva College (26).

W&J’s 10-point margin of victory over second-place Grove City is the largest since Grove City (42) topped Washington & Jefferson (31) by 11 to claim the 1998-1999 All-Sports Trophy.

Grove City led wire-to-wire in claiming the women’s All-Sports Trophy and compiled a total of 67.5 points in the conference’s nine sponsored women’s sports. The Wolverines have finished among the top two in each of the last four years, winning its last trophy in 2010-2011.

A conference title in golf and a second-place finish in track and field this spring helped Grove City best second-place Westminster College (63.5). The Wolverines finished the year with four conference championships.

The four-point margin of victory is the lowest since Grove City (61) edged Westminster (59) in the race for the 2010-2011 All-Sports Trophy.

Washington & Jefferson finished third (61), followed by Thomas More College (49), Waynesburg University (45), Geneva College (44.5), Saint Vincent College (42.5), Thiel College (38), Bethany College (33.5) and Chatham University (18.5).
