(pacathletics.org) – The top-seeded Thomas More College women’s soccer program claimed its third-straight Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament title Friday afternoon at The Bank of Kentucky Field with its 1-0 victory over second-seeded Grove City College. The tournament title for the Saints (17-1-2) is the program’s fourth overall since joining the PAC in 2005. Grove City (11-9-1) was playing in their seventh championship tournament final since its last PAC title in 2001. With Friday’s championship match win, Thomas More earns the PAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The tournament field and brackets for the NCAA’s championship tournament will be released on the NCAA website (www.ncaa.com) at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11. Freshman goalkeeper Megan Barton (Florence, Ky./Villa Madonna) played all 90 minutes and had one save in the shutout win. The shutout was the Saints' school-record 16th of the season. The Wolverines avenged a regular-season loss to Westminster with Tuesday's 1-0 victory. Junior forward Sarah Flenniken (Hudson, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) headed in the game-winning goal off a free kick from senior midfielder Sarah Cessar (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) at the 59:50 mark.
