ITHACA, N.Y. — Senior pitcher Heather Immesberger struck out
seven and allowed just two hits to lead the Bethany College softball
team to a 2-0 victory against the University of Rochester on the
first day of the NCAA Tournament Regionals at Ithaca (N.Y.) College.

ECAC Southern Division III tournament Saturday and Sunday at Brooks
Park.

Sixth-seeded Bethany (22-21), which recently won its 12th PAC
title, will play No. 3 Rochester (28-10) Thursday in the opening
round of the double-elimination NCAA Ithaca (N.Y.) Region. Bethany
will start Heather Immesberger (16-8, 2.41 ERA) against Rochester,
winner of 16 in a row.

A trio of Thiel College diamondmen are enjoying career years. DH
Chris Dunham has drilled 14 home runs; outfielder Eric Boylan is
batting .446 with 61 runs batted in, 10 homers and 23 doubles, and
pitcher Eric Wadowsky is approaching the school standard for wins.
Wadowsky (5-2) has woven a 21-11 career won-lost record — 1 win shy
of former major league pitcher Kevin Meistickle (’73) during his
Tomcat tenure.

WASHINGTON, PA. — Third-seeded Bethany College captured the
Presidents Athletic Conference softball championship here over the
weekend and automatically qualifies for the school’s fifth NCAA
Division III national tournament berth.

title in the pole vault in the Presidents' Athletic Conference
Championships at Washington & Jefferson College.

Division III softball tournament Saturday and Sunday as a No. 2
seed. The Presidents were awarded home-field advantage after

Jessi Cooper
turned in a dominant performance at the PAC Championships. Cooper, a
senior from Laurel, won the high jump at 1.60 meters and took second
in the triple jump with a school record effort of 11-08.

Thomas More Notebook
Thomas More
claimed its first regular-season Presidents' Athletic Conference
championship in baseball as the Saints swept Grove City Saturday,
21-7 and 10-5. With the title, the Saints will be the top seed and
hosts of the PAC Tournament. The winner of the PAC Tournament, which
starts at noon Thursday, will earn the automatic bid to the NCAA
Tournament.

Bethel
Park High School graduate Lauren Spegal, a senior at Bethany
College, won her second consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference
title in the shot put Saturday at the PAC championship meet, which
took place at Washington & Jefferson College's Cameron Stadium.

Jones Replaces Acker
Jones
replaces Terry Acker, who coached the Yellow Jackets for nine years.
Jones served as an assistant coach on both the men's and women's
basketball teams at Mount Union for the last four years. He takes
over a program at Waynesburg that won just one game last season.

W&J Coach Honored
Washington & Jefferson head wrestling coach Jay Robison was inducted
into the Edinboro University Athletic Hall of Fame this past
weekend. Robison, the 2008 Presidents' Athletic Conference Coach of
the Year, was one of 10 members inducted into the 27th Hall of Fame
class at Edinboro.
